Paul Clark: ITV is broadcast from every Freeview transmitter. Pontypool carries the ITV Wales region.

John Rooke: If you're referring to channels such as BBC Four HD, BBC News HD, RT HD, Quest HD, etc those are all carried on the COM7 multiplex which (along with COM8) was removed from Caldbeck (and 4 other transmitters) during the 700MHz clearance work carried out over the last few years. COM7 was only ever intended to be a temporary service and is expected to close completely when it's licence expires at the end of June this year. COM8 already closed in August 2020 for commercial reasons following the reduction in advertising revenue suffered across the entire commercial broadcasting industry during the first lockdown. Nothing has been announced regarding what will happen with any of the channels currently carried on COM7 and there is currently no spare capacity available for any more HD channels to be carried on another multiplex.

James Howe: This is an independent technical help website which is not connected with any broadcaster or transmitter company. The Arrochar transmitter is a small very low power relay which serves less than 500 homes, so it's never going to be commercially viable to provide every channel that is broadcast from a main transmitter. If you provide a full postcode we can see what the predicted signal strength is at your location and whether you might be able to get an improved service from another transmitter.

Just to clear up a couple of misunderstandings in your post, the BBC do not run the transmitter network, it is run by a company called Arqiva who are responsible for maintaining and fixing transmitter faults. Also, the TV Licence is not a subscription and does not entitle you to receive any particular channels. The channels not broadcast from lite transmitters are all run by commercial broadcasters who do not receive any funding from the licence fee.

Steve peacock : I have no knowledge of DAB broadcasting in Italy, but at a guess the World Service may be being broadcast using DAB+ which your car radio supports, but the Pure DAB set in your house does not.

mcflyni: The article you are commenting on is from 2007 and unfortunately the owner of this website hasn't been able to keep up with all of the many frequency changes that have happened as part of the 700MHz clearance over the last few years. To get the most up to date information use the detailed coverage checker on the corporate section of Freeview's website (see link below).

A Bridges: We need a full postcode to check, but chances are you're in an area which doesn't get a good signal for the Derbyshire local multiplex, but does get the Leicestershire mux from a distant transmitter.

Andrew Turner : Putting that postcode into Freeview's detailed coverage checker suggests that the lite transmitter at Strontian is the only one likely to be available. If the property has an existing Sky dish you would probably be better off connecting it to a Freesat box which would give far more channels, as the Strontian relay only carries the PSB multiplexes.

Dave: Take a look in the 800 number range, your TV or box may have dumped it there if it couldn't work out what to do with it while retuning. Have you lost any other channels such as Dave Ja Vue, Yesterday or DMAX which are also on the COM6 multiplex?
