Hi - I asked this Q some time ago but cannot find a reply. My ariel is on the roof and was put there about 3 years ago and tuned to Heathfield. This was because I am in the valley near Marden and cannot get Bluebell Hill. Looking at the map, Tunbridge Wells is almost on a straight line between me and Heathfield and is much nearer. When TW comes on at full power, would I be better changing the ariel? My reception is fairly good but pixellates and freezes sometimes in bad weather.

Thanks for responses guys. I'm not sure which type of Ariel I have. From the pictures you suggest, it is more like the "Yagi" than any of the others. There are 15 horizontal elements. The bit at the back I think you call the "reflector" is not exactly like any of the photos. It conists of horizontal elements and is not framed. There are 4 elements. Top 2 are about 100mm apart and there are 2 at the bottom about 40mm apart. I am inclined to see how it goes next June and perhaps find out what the TW reception is like before I make a decision.

I posted some months ago about the decision whether to stay with the Eastbourne Transmitter or go to Tunbridge Wells at switchover date. I had thought of staying as-is. However, during th last two weeks, I am having increasing pixellation and complete loss of reception on BBC 1 and 2 ( Freeview)I am OK on Freesat. Is there a current problem I am not aware of? I have retuned etc and BBC has always been the best of my channel reception until now?? Both Eastbourne and T. Wells are in a fairly straight line from me, although T. Wells is much nearer. I chose Eastbourne 3 yrs ago on advice of ariel erector as I could not receive Freeview from the northern transmitters at Bluebell Hill etc...

Thanks for the comments guys. If it is atmospheric, then I can wait. I'll just switch to Freesat for a while. Probably means loadsa grief from "The Management" as I am changing from the norm and she does not like change. Apparently the atmospherics are something I should be able to control!!!

I have enjoyed terrific HD reception for about 9 months, despite being in a relatively bad reception area. Then all HD channels started to break up about 5-6 weeks ago. I retuned yesterday and now the HD channels are not even there! I disconnected my PVR and retuned the Television Freeview receiver with the same result. Nothing else has changed. I am on the Heathfield Transmitter and live TN12 9AY. Tunbridge Wells transmitter is much nearer but an aerial man said it was just a relay from Heathfield so would not improve things. Any ideas please?

Thanks Dave L. Not sure how to respond? So many points. Next door was perfect until a few days ago and now is very slightly pixelated in HD. The Aerials are identical and put up on the same chimney on the same day by the same guy. Both houses have Humax PVR and good HD televisions. What confuses me is that the aerials are only about 600m apart - so why the difference in reception???

I live 2 miles north of Marden. I have Freeview although technically I should not have been able to receive it ( 4 yrs ago). The ariel engineer tuned it to Heathfield. As this is in the same direction as Tunbridge Wells, do I just leave it or should I get it re-tuned?
