Thanks for your response jb 38. I have done a default setting reset and have a region setting option which I set accordingly. No difference ! Frustrating thing is that I can set view/ record on hd channels but on all the others the epg disappears as soon as I try to set something.
Interestingly, on routine channel updates the tv invariably default tunes to Waltham but the dvd recorder to Belmont.
It's a Panasonic xw 380 by the way and I don't have any boosters. Dvd has worked fine for 18 months since new and the tv about 5 years.
I have no problems whatsoever using the tv's epg.
Must just add that the roof aerial is 20 plus years old but we get excellent signal strength/quality readings. Thank you !

Well jb38 you've solved my problem! I am very proud of my self, not being a 'techie' at all, but I've just completed a firmware update (was quite a few versions out of date) and everything is fine again. Thank you so much.
Just one more question, just out of interest really, why does my TV always default tune to Waltham after a new channel update, but the dvd recorder to Belmont ? Doesn't really matter but has always baffled me!!

I live in pe 9 on the edge of Stamford and have a clear view of Waltham with no obstructions in between.We get max signal strength and quality from Waltham and Belmont . Have a Panasonic tv and Panasonic dvd/hdd recorder. Over the last few days we are unable to view/record via the dvd' s epg except on hd channels. The tv is fine ! Very frustrating but I think it's reception issue rather than equipment. Any observations/ suggestions gratefully received ! Thank you.
