Below are all of billy's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.I was wondering why the BBC Freeview mux died during Family Guy.
I had my dates mixed up, i thought DSO1 was 13th Nov lol

Yes, i know that now.As i said i had my dates mixed up (getting old!)
It appears i am not getting too much signal on PSB1 :) tuner signal monitor says 90% and reception appears to be fine
Cannot wait for the HD in 2 weeks time!

Yes, cheers. i got my dates mixed up.
Is PSB1 using higher bitrates per channel now? we have gone from 16QAM to 64QAM so is BBC1 etc using a slightly higher bitrate per channel? If so it is not noticeable imo but then again i was not expecting much of an improvement as the BBC was using the highest bitrates for BBC1 on Freeview anyway,
Roll on DSO2 & the HD Mux on the 23rd i say!

Cheers for the reply Mike Dimmick :)
Could anyone tell me how you know if you are getting too much signal?
Does too much signal end up in the MUX not locking onto the mux (channels not appearing) or does it mean picture drop outs (similar to a weak signal?)
I am curious as to how you can isolate too much signal as being the problem, especially with a box/tv which does not show a signal bar or SNR value

Wow, what an absolutely thorough explanation Mike Dimmick (Thank you!)
A lot of that is way over my head but i will read up some more.
As far as i can tell i am fine with the 100K BBCA mux (perfect picture and no drop outs or problems recording)
In theory i should be OK when the remaining muxes are boosted to 100k on Nov 23rd.
Any problems and it will be easy enough (and cheap enough) to buy a variable attenuator :).

^^ to buy a variable attenuator
(No idea why that was cut off from my previous message).

Nothing on C62 in Norwich yet :(
Maybe you picked up a test transmission?
Oh and no HD will be transmitted as 1080P.
It will be 1080I or 720P / 720I

Tony Foster,
I am in the NR3 area
Luckily the installer who installed my Aerial some years ago had the fore thinking to suggest a Wideband, So hopefully i should have no problem with the SDN Mux on C42.
I will report back later after DSO2 is complete :)
Cannot wait for the HD mux to start too on C62
For what it is worth i would like to thank the unknown people working on the DSO at Tacolneston. Good job Guys :) and fingers crossed for a smooth transition later

Are all muxes transmitting?
I lost ITV earlier so figured DSO2 was done.
Rescanned but can only tune into the mux on C55. All other muxes are missing :(
Doubt it is too much signal as i got all muxes fine (even the BBCA when it was ramped upto 100K 2 weeks ago)
Not looking good so far :(

Cannot wait for Freeview HD & the power boost at the end of this month!!
I have a PC build (as a dedicated HVR) with 2x BGT 3620's (Dual DVB-T2 tuners)
So come the end of the month i can full mux dump 4 of the 6 muxes or record 4 channels at once either HD or SD and the full mux dumping means i can record pretty much everything on Freeview SD :)
