DJP: You have a choice. You can leave it as it is or you can try for Moel y Parc, re-aligning your aerial on it.
You should be aware that the commercial (COM) channels from Moel y Parc are at half transmission power with respect to the Public Service Broadcaster (PSB) ones and that this will always be the case. Also be aware that Ch48 (Pick TV etc) may be subject to a reactive power decrease to half its full power until 24 October 2012.
What this means is that you might find that Moel y Parc COMs are unreceiveable and its PSBs are, even if you adjust the aerial so that it faces it. Should this be the case, then what you have now might be the best you can get without getting an exterior aerial and/or a higher gain one.

Alan Baker: Further to Matt's response, see the list of Freeview multiplexes. BBC Parliament and BBC Four/CBeebies move at switchover to a single BBC standard definition multiplex (BBC A).

AJW: There have been a number of reports of boxes/TVs apparently freezing on particular days. I'm not an expert here, but I have noticed that these seem to be those that are on the list for firmware updates that are being broadcast at the time the device hangs.

Could you check to see if you have latest firmware version (i.e. the version that is being broadcast, as shown on the page I gave you a link to)? If it isn't the latest, then maybe it is updating firmware. As I say, I'm not exactly sure what these things do when updating, but clearly they will be innoperable.
A key question is do you switch it off at the wall when not in use? If so, then I guess that the first thing it does is update (at times that the update is broadcast). For this reason, leave it on at the wall overnight (or at least so it is turned on whilst the update is broadcast and for which you don't need to use the machine).

Lesley: What can and can't be received can vary locally and in some locations, house by house.
You say that you can't get anything on the Panasonic TV. Do you have other TVs or boxes that do work? What is the model number of the Panasonic? There are some that won't work after switchover.
Have you tried connecting the Panasonic to the same aerial socket normally used by a TV or box that works?
As KMJ,Derby says, in order to get the full range of Freeview channels and Border regional programming, you will need a second aerial on Chatton. Looking on Google Streetview, there are a few houses in your road that have gone down this route.

M. Bailey: No. The commercial services decide where they wish to place their transmitters which is why they don't broadcast from a 1000 or so relays which accounts for around 9% of the population. They were asked if they wished to increase their coverage and they declined.

Your only possibility is Crystal Palace (if you can get it). Its power will go up in April when switchover occurs, so you might need this extra power to receive from it.

Richard: Yes, you can get non-powered splitters:
Television Aerial Boosters / Amplifiers, Splitters, Diplexers & Triplexers
You could try disconnecting the amp and connecting the aerial to one TV and see if it improves matters.

w.thain: The signals from Torosay for the commercial multiplexes will get no better.
Are you in an area where you can't have an external aerial or satellite dish because I had a look around on Streetview and only spotted one or two? If so, then that will act to reduce your chances over an external aerial.

Mike Dimmick: If the high power BBC A multipex on C45 is an issue now (WRT to a receiver being desensitised), how come the analogue service that used it previously didn't cause the same issue?

DJP: Your aerial should be vertical for Wrexham Rhos and horizontal for Moel y Parc or Winter Hill. It may work to a certain degree, but if you're getting nothing from Wrexham, then I am wondering if your aerial is horizontal.
Be aware that Wrexham is not a full service Freeview transmitter, which means that if you do use it, you need to use Winter Hill or Moel y Parc for them.
