charles: Yes, the new HD channel is lower power than the others from the few transmitters which carry it.
BBC Three HD is carried on the same multiplex (same signal) as the existing four HD services and is therefore not on lower power.
Knowledge of your location, preferably in the form of postcode or nearby one such as a shop, would allow an idea of predicted reception to be gained.

Rob: If you are receiving the test transmission then it would seem likely that you will receive the services when they come on air as it would seem unlikely that the test transmission is more powerful than what it will be like when they are on air.

Neil Richardson: That's not likely.
Waltham's COM7 is on much lower power than the rest, so if you're using Nottingham transmitter because Waltham's main channels aren't really good enough then it's COM7 will be no good to you.

Alan Gardner: Retuning achieves nothing unless the set is tuned incorrectly in the first place.
Freesat can show any regional news programmes because the satellite footprint is nationwide!
Freesat receivers request a postcode which is simply to provide the appropriate regional BBC and ITV variants. Thus, anyone who wants different regions can simply enter a postcode within their desired region!
In any case, BBC Look North (Yorkshire) from Leeds is the regional news programme for Sheffield. However, there are quite a few Belmont users in the City because the terrain prevents reception from Emley Moor, Crosspool or one of the other Yorkshire region transmitters. This means that you and other Belmont users receive Look North from Hull, whose principal service area is East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

Oscar: If you are using a signal amplifier (booster) then any filter must be fitted before it so as to prevent any 800MHz 4G signal overloading it.

Ash: The problem you have described sounds absolutely the sort of outcome where a signal booster is connected but has failed.

mazbar: See the page for Sutton Coldfield. Viewers using that transmitter are reporting the same issue or something else odd with COM7.
COM7 services from Emley Moor are OK for me.

mazbar: No. Channels 31 to 37 (excluding 36) are used exclusively by COM7 (and in future COM8 will be incorporated as well). This gap was cleared as part of switchover.
Therefore PSB3 "shouldn't" be on C31.
If you click "C31" it will show a map of all transmitters which broadcast on this channel. However, quite a few aren't on air yet (according to Digital UK Coverage Checker). These include Sheffield, Bilsdale and Waltham, all of which aren't on air. So the only place C31 could possibly be being received from in North West England is Winter Hill.

Teddy: If you are using the Rowridge transmitter then no there are no issues. If there had they would have meant people posting about it, but you're the first. I suggest that the issue might lie with your own installation.
