Phil B: Yes because two feeds are required only for the recording function for which Sky charges for the dubious privilege of using said function on your own box.

Nino: The most common answer to this question is that the TV is a HD one but doesn't have a "Freeview HD" (DVB-T2) tuner in-built. Knowledge of make and model numbers will allow this to be answered.

Ken Jenkins: True Entertainment isn't available from any transmitter in Wales. This is because it's displaced to make room for E4 on COM4 multiplex. In the rest of the UK E4 is carried on PSB2 multiplex but in Wales this capacity is used by S4C.

Ken Jenkins: Unless you can receive from a transmitter in England, then your only possibility is via satellite (Freesat or Sky).

TinaE: The question is simply one of is it the aerial system (up to the wall socket) that is at fault, or is it beyond there (i.e. your own part of the installation)?
If it's the former then it's the responsibility of the party which looks maintains the aerial system to rectify it and it's therefore outside your direct control. If the signal level is too high then that's an issue with the aerial system and can therefore only be addressed by adjusting the system.
The fact that a neighbour uses the system without issue to the picture and sound doesn't necessarily mean that it isn't at fault. With digital reception it either works or it doesn't, with very little in between. Differences in models and different lengths of cable could possibly make the difference between "only just" working and "only just" not working.
If there is a 4G base station operating in the 800MHz band (just above what's used for TV) and it coincides with the start of the problem then this can't be ruled out. However, what a base station means is that there are mobile devices in the area which are transmitting. I wonder, could your neighbour be using such a device at those times? Perhaps the signal is so strong where your wiring is that it's being picked up in your wiring -- just a thought.

Stan Smith: In answer to your questions:
1. I found this page from 2012 which says that Made in Tyne and Wear would like to transmit from Fenham in order to improve coverage:

2. I'm not sure about subtitles, I don't know whether there are any such obligations. I know that people have complained on here about some of the commercial Freeview channels having poor or no subtitles.
For both questions, I suggest you direct them to the broadcaster. Then report back here what they say as that might help others with the same query.

will calder: The choice is actually one of which transmitter, so the answer depends on the direction of your aerial.
If it's roughly west south west then it's Black Hill which I assume is "Glasgow". If it's pointing east towards Craigkelly then "Edinburgh" is your choice.

m.whitbrook: The first thing to try is installing attenuation so as reduce the signal level. This has been suggested before:
