Go to

and enter the postcode CA22 2TX, which is that of the transmitter.
"We have a high voltage fault affecting Egremont. We believe that this affects your property. This fault is due to damage to our equipment. Our engineers are aware of the problem. And a team is currently travelling to site. We expect to restore power to most customers by 00:00 hours Saturday. We expect that customers close to the point of damage will be restored by 06:00 hours Saturday. This is our best estimate at this time and may change as additional information becomes available. What frequency are you tuned to?

LandlubberDave: Broadly speaking, digital either works or it doesn't. By "works" I am talking the bit that you can see, which is producing a picture.
HD pictures are more susceptible to such interference.
Of course, this is not to say that the standard definition signals aren't being affected, it is just that your receiver is able to resolve them to a picture. It may be that they are "only just" good enough. As you only measure is the picture, you perceive them has having no effect.

Tommy: No because the dish points at a satellite which is in geo-stationary orbit above the equator and the terrestrial transmitter (for Freeview) is on the ground and quite a bit closer to home.
You need a terrestrial aerial.

Michael: On the basis that you are so close to Divis, the signals could perhaps be on the high or excessive side, perhaps pushed higher by the amplifier.

I think that it's likely that you can run both rooms using an unpowered splitter.

Michael: I should add that, as such, I'm wondering if your signal level being on the high/excessive side could be the cause.

lynne: Lincolnshire is a massive place, so I guess that the answer is likely to be "yes". However, perhaps you are looking to find out whether it is available at your property rather than in the County in general.
Cable networks (most of which have now been swallowed up by Virgin Media) go along streets where it is worthwhile, i.e. usually not in rural areas.
Sam Knows is a popular resource for such information:
SamKnows - Telephone Exchange Search
Where a street has been cabled there will be evidence in the form of cabinets and manholes with "CATV" on. The cabinets may have Telewest or ntl logos on.

jb38: Thanks.
Are 'O' rings necessary on F-plugs?
I get the impression that the answer might be "not really".
