Hi - lost ITV1, C4, C5. Muswell Hill, N10 area.
Do we need to readjust digital aerial?

Cor blimey! Props to you or whatever's the vernacular!

We had booked a company to fix our digital aerial on the Monday (Nov 7) after I'd posted above. In the meantime I kept retuning the TV (brand new, btw partly bought because of the egregious reception in Muswell Hill); and on Friday, lo! ITV et al returned, though (Freeview) ITV breaks up/is unwatchable (again), so we use the analogue version of ITV.

Then I belatedly checked my post/your reply only to discover:
1) Theyd switched off the mains, as it were: QED the loss of ITV, and (ipso facto);
2) A retune was the answer not an aerial twiddle and its accompanying £50-£100 bill!

WELL DONE! AND THANK YOU!
. .
I wonder how many people go cable and/or fandangle their aerials because of this nonsense ie, poor service, and even worse communication.
We've had many, many problems with ITV over the years and even replaced our (not very old) digital aerial a few years back. Yeah, we pimped our ride, so to speak, with a bells-and-whistles new digital aerial only to find theyd put dodgy retreads on a Porsche!

Round here in N10-land people put up with a poor service or throw money at it because they blame it on the area Muswell Hill and so let off the hook the crooks and incompetents behind the so-called digital revolution (sic). Why?
the technology must be there.
And why do the people to blame for this Fred Karno shambles create no-mans-lands of feeble receptivity by carving huge distances between masts?

Secondly, the lack of info about switching off signals ie, taking away peoples TV channels is beyond the pale, imho. My Mum watches only the main two channels and BBC News24 and has endured a patchy, fragile ITV for years only to be given the mushroom treatment from above by the TV honchos (ie, kept in the dark, and fed et cetera) about switch-offs to their (already v. poor) service. Shame on them!
. .
Anyway, moans aside! What I'd like to ask is this:
Our address is N10 3DB our digital aerial points south (to Crystal Palace?).
Come April when the new service is 'fixed' and the digital signal cranked up, will we still need to twiddle with the aerial? Where will the nearest digital signal be? Alexandra Palace? Crystal Palace? Planet Zog?!
Will we need a different/new receiver a dish instead of an aerial?
. .
Finally, I want to tear a strip off the shower behind this farce. Have you got a number for someone on whom I can vent my spleen?! Someone near the top not a poor flunky paid to insulate this seraglio of half-eunuchs from this outrage that invariably affects the old, poor and marginalised who dont have internet access to uncover this scandal and (then) post angry blogs like this!
