Below are all of Peter Henderson's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.I've noticed nothing happening at this location (Jordanstown) and all multiplexes are as normal.
Strangely, the strongest is 34 (Film 4, ITV 4 etc.) which is always end stopping. Weakest is 23 which is more prone to break up than the rest. 48 is also stronger than the BBC multiplexes and 33 (UTV etc.)
During the high power tests in Janury signals on all multiplexes were 100%, so 24th October should be worth waiting for.
It may well be that a lot of people who use relay transmitters could in fact get an adequate signal from Divis once the power increases.

I've noticed there are a number of TV aerials both around here and in Carrick pointing due east and vertically polarised. I assume these are picking up the Portpatrick transmitter ? I was able to get reasonable analogue reception from this transmitter pre DSO.
Cambrett Hill at this location (Jordanstown) is somewhat variable. One minute end stopping (even in bad weather) and better than divis, the next, non existent. I'm not sure if it's down to some sort of local interference.

I gather Challenge TV and Pick TV are now free too air, so they'll be available under non Freesat mode.
That means there are only 3 channels that are now on Freeview that aren't on Freesat: Dave, Yesterday, and Quest.

Much preferred the old site Brian which had a wealth of information on individal transmitters along with very useful coverage maps etc. Sadly, now gone.
As they say, if it's not broken, don't fix it.

Brian: The links to all UTV transmitters still aren't working, as Paul Hardcastle has also commented.
Any chance of these being fixed ?
I also miss the links to online live TV which were very useful.

No, you do not need a modem unless you want to watch catch up services such as the BBCiplayer, if the Freesat STB or PVR (recorder) supports this service.
You will not receive any of the Sky subscription channels on Freesat (including any of the Sky sports channels or Eurosport).
Basically, Freesat is the same as Freeview, minus a few channles such as Dave and Yesterday. However, Freesat has more channels than Freeview, many of which aren't on digital terrestrial TV.
If you have a quad or octo LNB on your dish you can add multiple boxes (or PVRs) in different rooms.

L. Warner: You can put any U.K. Postcode, including your own into a Freesat box.
As far as I'm aware, postcodes from other countries do not work, though you should be able to use the box in non Freesat mode for free to air channels.
I'm not sure how well a 1 metre dish will work in Spain though.

Les: That's what I would have thought.
Must ask my brother what he's using for his apartment in Portugal.

Conor:
I've been told, in no uncertain terms, that RTE will never, ever, be on Freesat, ever.
It's all down to rights issues. Apparently the Irish government believe that if RTE were free to air ad 28.2 degrees east, millions of people in the UK (and all across Europe) would be tuning in and watching their programmes (some US series air before the UK, or are exclusive to RTE for example).
Hence Saorsat, which has a very narrow spot beam and will not be receivable in the UK (apart from west Wales, South West England, and maybe South West Scotland), and the need for the NI mux.
Personally, I think Saorsat may be a dead duck, in my opinion (lack of equipment for example, will installers even bother ?).
Still, time will tell.
It'll be interesting to see Clermont Cairn's coverage after October 24th.

Davy: Depends what part of Glegomey your in.
On the Antrim Road down around Pizza Hut for example, most aerials point tooward Carnmoney Hill, but up around the church road and Ballyhenry Road they all seem to receive Divis. After DSO there's going to be a considerable power increase so even areas that can't get Freeview from Divis at the moment may well do so after DSO.
I'd try Digital UK's postcode checker which should give you a rough idea of what will be available after 24th October.
Don't forget, the new RTE NIMM will be broadcast from Carnmoney Hill. If you can't receive the NIMM from Black Mountain it may be worthwhile putting aerials up for both and diplexing them into the one downlead.
I don't think Clermont Carn reaches Glengprmley although who knows what will happen after it increases power to 160kw in October !
