You should get Saorview after DSO if you have good analogue reception at present.

Anne: Digital UK's postcode checker shows that your reception from Divis should be OK post DSO. The PSB (Freeview Lite) channels from the local Leitrim transmitter should also be very good.
No mention of the NI mux from Black Mountain, but you should get adequate Saorview reception from Clermont Cairn once it increases power on the 24th October.
Failing all that, Freesat would be the other option.
As you say, DSO can't come soon enough.

Matt: Sheik's TV is Freeview HD so he should be able to watch HD channels simply by plugging in an aerial lead (not a dish).
Sheik: If you're TV is Freeview HD all you need to watch HD channels is an aerial, not a satell;ite dish. The TV already has a Freeview HD tuner
Freesat from Sky is similar to Freesat except the channel line up is slightly different.
If you want to use a recorder (PVR) then your only choice is a Freesat PVR, but you'll need at least a dual LNB and two downleads. Sky charge you £10 per month if you want to use the PVR facilities e.g. on a Sky plus HD box.
You can also buy Freeview HD recorders and these only need an aerial to work (unlike Feesat, just one downlead is required).

Indeed Paul, Sheik will require an HDMI lead to view HD channels from a Freesat receiver/PVR. The photos at the top of the page are confusing, since they're using a scart lead which wont result in true HD, even though he will be able to view the HD channels e.g. BBC HD.
Still, since his TV is already equiped with a Freeview HD tuner he really doesn't need to do anything other than to plug in an aerial.

Henry: Magic switched places with Kiss on the commercial D.A.B. multiplex a couple of years ago, so it's unlikely it'sll be back on D.A.B.
No D.A.B station have been switched off becuse they've interfered with RTE.
However, Northern Ireland cannot receive Digital One because of the VHF band III frequencies that are used for analogue TV in the ROI. Hopefully, this will change at some stage after the 24th October.

You'll definitely get Freeview Lite from at least one of the Newry relay stations after Ontober 24th MEM, and possibly the Camlough transmitter as well.
Try Digital UK's postcode checker just to see if there's any possibilty of picking up Divis.
Failing that, there's always Freesat as an option if you don't want to pay Sky.

Multiplex C are the Sky channels i.e. Sky News, Pick TV, etc. Mux D is ITV 4, Viva, Film 4 etc.
I'd treat those Digital UK postcode predictions with a pinch of salt though. For example, they claim I'm getting variable reception of Mux 1 (BBC 1, BBC 2 etc,) Mux A (ITV 3, Channel 5 +1, 5 USA etc.) and Mux B (News 24, BBC 4 etc.) yet in practice reception is generally fine (with a relatively modest widebant aerial) so you'll never really know until you try.
If Divis doesn't work then the local Freeview Lite combined with Freesat would be just as good as Divis. You're only really missing around 5 channels that aren't on the main Freeview transmitters, and your gaining a lot of others on Freesat that aren't even on Freeview.
Freesat could work out cheaper in the long run than a large aerial for Divis, which can be quite expensive these days.
Don't forget you can install and octo LNB on your dish and have as many as 8 Freesat receivers, 4 PVRs, or any combination in between.

Andy: Re. RTE on Freesat after October 24th.
Definitely no.
