1. You can easily do local services (local news inserts, local channels, local adverts) using terrestrial networks but these use huge capacity on satellite;
2. You still have to distingish between the services: in New Zealand they are called, for example, Freeview HD and Freeview Satellite.

In Ireland you have "Saorview" and "Saorsat".

Chris Stockton: They are distributed by the DTT system, you shouldn't need them. They are provided in an table that your equipment should be able to read.
Depending on your location in the country they are different, and they can be changed dynamically by the broadcasters.
