Maureen: There is no particular reason to get a TV in the UK, a French TV will work perfectly well with an external box.

I would suggest you get a branded "Freesat" box from a UK store - it will cost you only £30 - Buy Bush BFSAT02SD Freesat SD Digital Box - Black at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for Freesat digital set top boxes.

steve: It's the Doppler Effect - it changes the effective frequency of the signal if you move towards or away from the transmitter at great speed.
The COFDM system used by DAB consists of 1000+ sub-carries - at extreme speed these become distorted and unrecoverable.

jb38: I don't mind the intrusion at all.

I would be very shocked to find that DG required much more than a contract aerial and passive splitters, come Wednesday 13th April 2011, to receive perfect reception from the Nottingham transmitter, as it is less than 3 miles away.

Julian Constantine: If Sky didn't have adverts, they would have to find more programmes to fit on their channels. That would never do.

deano1113: The card provides access to encrypted channels you pay for.

You can view free-to-air HD channels without any card. To view the others you need a subscription card in an HD box, with a HD subscription payment attached to the card.

Nedbod: That is very unfair. The current prediction models are highly accurate.

Vicky: You pay you TV license because you have a TV set I would have thought.

The TV Licence funds BBC services only, and you can get all of them.
