Graham: OK. The news here isn't good.

Your currently predicted to get the PSB multiplexes with excellent reception, but your COM receptions are predicted to be OK for COM4 and COM5 and poor for COM6.

However... the predictions show that this will only be the case for the near future, when on 15th June 2011 the COMs change from C52+, C41 and C51- to C23, C26 and C29 your reception will actually get worse, and move to "variable" as 2012 and 2013 move on.

You will continue with the PSB "Freeview Light" channels OK for the foreseeable future.

If you would like to avoid buying from "Dr Evil", then Freesat (rather than fSfS) is a good option. You can get excellent Freesat+HD equipment today.

A top-notch aerial is, as you identified, a gamble.

Nathan: The Sky HD instructions are shown in bold.

However, sometimes "no signal" means just that.

As you have a "+" box, you might like to try - with the mains unplugged - swapping over the satellite input cables.

It may be that the "primary" link or LNB output has failed and the "secondary" is OK.

skumar: I would not hand over any money until you have done at least "Method 1" and "Method 3" above.

Mark Aberfan Aerials: Yes, the last I saw about that was Virgin Media's sale of UKTV stake delayed by ad sales hitch | Media | guardian.co.uk .

This does mention using Channel 4's advertising team for airtime sales being at the heart of the problem.

Mark Aberfan Aerials: That's all good to know. I wonder why they don't get the official "Freesat" branding too?

bill anderson: The box must have a satellite signal from a "default transponder" to be able to decode the postcodes.

Check your box has got a signal.

Mark Aberfan Aerials: Yes, that is true. On the other hand there is quite a considerable marketing push for the brand.

skumar: OK, this indicates there is actually a fault.

You might want, with the power off, just to check the cables are not partially disconnected.
