Maggie betts: If you are getting a "no signal" message then it could be a cable or LNB fault, rather than a faulty box.
With the power off, try swapping over the two satellite input cables in the back of the Sky+ box.

wutty: A manual scan does nothing an automatic scan does.
You must have a Freeview HD DVB-T2 receiver to see the HD channels.
