Nick: I'm sure I went into this at the top of the page with all the graphs.

So, here I go again.

The three PSB multiplexes move (generally speaking) to three of the four analogue channels, at slightly lower power but the same as required to provide the same level of coverage.

The COMs then move into the *OLD* Freeview plan, which means that they are at lower power on some transmitters, as per the graph.

I have no idea what you mean by a "percieved signal quality", the signal strength and robustness (due to being in 8k) is demonstrably improved, I'm not sure what anyone's "perception" has to do with the price of fish.

David: That's fine unless you want to have HD or recording facilities.

ALL: From Switchover starts in 4 million homes in Yorkshire, West Midlands 7th September | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice :

From 6am Wednesday 7th September 2011, you must to a perform a "first time installation" retune (sometimes "Factory Reset" or "Shipping Condition") on your Freeview box or television set.

If you don't know how to do this - do this - My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice instead.

You MAY find that old pre-Freeview equipment will no longer work - see TVs and boxes that do not support the 8k-mode

On Wednesday 21 September 2011 will see the second stage of switchover, which provides the final Freeview configuration, including Freeview HD for all transmitters in these two regions.

TonyL: Apologies, I had the transmitter as being as "switchover type 6" in the database and it is of course a "type 9".
