It's not like replacing a domestic aerial, not even slightly.
The power of the transmitter after switchover will be much higher than for most other main transmitters (-4dB compared to -7dB) so the coverage will be much better than the analogue coverage.
At switchover the transmitter will be off air for about six hours from midnight.

Ali: You should be able to pick up Freeview Light from both Bretch Hill and Sandy Heath.
I would check your box or TV set is not on the TVs and boxes that do not support the 8k-mode | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice list, and possibly see Freeview signals: too much of a good thing is bad for you | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .

If you have a "shared aerial" then it might require the "common system" to be adjusted to work with the post-switchover frequencies. If you look at the "Transmission frequencies" section above, you can see that C59 and C60 were not used before switchover.
