tina: You presumably pay for TV Licence because you have a TV set, and that is the law.

If you have lost channels, why not contact the management company of the "communal aerial", as it will be their responsibility to make it work for you.

Chris: The commercial multiplex operators declined to provide their services from this transmitter many years ago. This is because the cost of providing the transmissions is more than the profit that would be made from the number of viewers. The companies (now Arqiva and ITV plc) refused the offer of frequency allocations, so these have been withdrawn. This means there will be no additional multiplexes broadcast from this, or any other, public service transmitter.

nick: Please see Freeview modes | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice for details of first bit.

The high power digital services, when fully implemented will have less problems with the effects of Inversion.

Please see BETA! Radio transmitters - BBC National DAB map | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice for the location of DAB transmitters at Aldeburgh and Manningtree.

MARTIN GRIMES: If you can';t get Mux C and Mux D, then you do need a wideband aerial.

However, as switchover is 20th April 2011, I wouldn';t suggest you upgrade your aerial for a few months of extra reception.

But, the final power levels on the commercial multiplexes is not 28th September 2011, so it might be that you don';t get them until that date.

Phillip: The HD channels on satellite are at the same bitrate and resolution as those on Freeview. You should see no difference at all between Freeview HD and Freesat HD.

You should clearly be able to see the difference between SD and HD..

Des Collier: The whole idea is that you will get news related to your locality, not some huge "transmitter region" based on electromagnetic topography.

So, for example, people in Brighton won't get just BBC Southampton Today or ITV Southampton Today, but Channel 6 Brighton news.

Another example could be Sheffield, where you get BBC Leeds and ITV Leeds, but you will now get Channel 6 Sheffield.
