I am one of those people only upgrade tv or box only if i really really have to... if it aint broke leave it till it dies completly... Also I am not a person goes out upgrade everything on a whim. I remember a saled man saying "freeview will not work on VHS video recorders" rubbish the best thing to do is have a digi box soley for video, set timers on both units.. it works well. I do have 2 Anolouge DVD recorders paired up with freeview box... that works well no problem. If i do get a freeview recorder.. i will make sure it has DVB T2 tuner.I do agree this "re tuning " is a pain but why not have all the " retuning" all at once due the switchover... i feel they haven't planned this out very well.. Freesat and Sky boxes no retuning need it automaticly put in new channels. I just wish freeview box do this properly... but saying that freeview boxes do re tune to other transmitters for no good reason. I very often do the Re tuning for the elderly in my village... for free of charge.. just a cuppa or coffee thats all i ask for. :-)

Ray Bailey.. I am deaf person too rely on subtitles.. Pick tv is the worse station for subtitles it either 10 seconds behind or not on at all... then another show come on then the subtitles show what happened the on the programme before it.... come on freeview sort it out!!!!.. Ray its not your tv or areial is the problem its the transmissions.... sometimes they forget to switch "on" the subs... same on ITV meridian... had no subtitles for a week... lucky i got London TV get subs on there.. its a pain to change aerial leads around and re tune it

I do wish ITV didnt keep changing the ITV regions... for example Hannington and Oxford carry same ITV meridian news.. used to be Central or Thames Valley... I prefered to have a choice of ITV news i know i can do it be freesat... never mind.

I like to ask why we have Sky BBC and ITV channels and Freesat BBC itv channels.. i found on a generic sat box over 600 odd channels why on earth they have to broadcast two separate platforms ie sky and freesat twice?? it don't make any sense in doing that.... Ok you got to have regional bbc and itv which is fair enough but why do they whole thing twice? to me seems a waste of satellite channels when it can be freed up for other things

whats happening to crystal palace My TV signals has fallen off the scale can only get about 20 to 40 % signal....... normally it be 70 to 80 %.. my aerials are OK and checked all connections all fine....i think this engineering work has brought the transmission power right down.... I am in Reading RG8 8DB. I also get signals from Hannington.. that' s working ok for now...

Oh dear... its another way of government forcing people to buy new boxes or new tv's PVR's etc etc so they get the VAT.. So lets say i buy a PVR DVB T2 how do we know for sure it still work after 2018? does this mean freeview SD ceased for good?.. Why didnt freeview UK thought about this in the 1st place?????
