Thanks both and Happy New Year! The stronger signal at switchover maysolve the problem; and that is very useful intelligence about making sure the aerial'spointing at the transmitter! I do receive analogue TV, though the picture on Channel 5 is so fuzzy as to be unwatchable, and reception can be poor even on BBC1.

When I tried to get a set-top box two or three years ago the John Lewis man gave up in despair as my flat in Muswell Avenue had no digital signal whatsoever. He said I was in a "blackspot", under the shadow of the hill at Alexandra Palace which was blocking the signal from Crystal Palace. When the Alexandra Palace transmitter goes digital in April, will I be able to receive Freeview? I've been told that my property is not caabled for Virgin and I'm worried I'll have no TV at all come the spring!
