I have used ALL of these procedures. The full reset (software upgrade) works but resets my favourite channels each time. And the problem keeps recurring
The channels keep acting up...and the number of channels affected is spreading.

But most of the channels still work fine
How can that be ? How do I repair the LNB ? I still don't know quite what it is even after researching it.

Method 2 actually doesn't usually work separately from Method 3.
I am more concerned about self installation....assuming the LNB is indeed the problem.

So you think on balance it is likely to be the receiver....? That does make sense I have been having periodic problems with it for quite a while.

We are switching off digital here in London next year and I don't own PVR. Maybe it might be wise to take the oportuity to upgrade to Sky + ?

Analogue yes that is off course what I meant...I am very tired.....point is maybe it is worth investing in a new installation along with Sky + set ?

So I could buy a HD Set use it with a standard signal and TV ?
Fianlly got the box working again....but the problem channels are failing already.... so no doubt this is not going to go away with better weather and clearer sky's.
I am just concerned that this problem may recure... based on what I have said are you pretty sure it is the digibox ? (It makes sense it has being having problems for two years!) for example the subtitles have not worked in that time if you tried to use them....the digibox crashed....I just want to be sure you know ?

What's the best price and option for Freesat + Box. So I will be able to pause live tv, tape one watch another etc ?

I have used this several times in the last month...but the problem keeps recurring. Is it just the poor weather or is the LNB or something else in need of professional repair ? I am currently missing BBC1,BBC2,all the ITV channels (2, 3 4 and plus +1hr channels). All the channels I can receiver though are fine--no breakup worth mentioning. What is the problem ?
I have been receiving just free to air channels for some years since I cancelled my sibscription.
I live in London and we switch off analogue next year so maybe it's worth uppgrading to Sky+ and having a fresh installation of both Receiver and Dish.
