I could tune into both Gold London & Gold Essex multiplex , up until last year . Gold Essex became Smooth , but Gold London, was still coming through as before . This September XFM came off Essex DAB , then Gold came back on. I did no retune , but the radios seemed to take the stronger Essex signal , as the London ident dropped off .This week it came up station "Not available ". I scrolled through the available , stations, & found it again. Many thanks, if you can find out.

The , DAB Tx maps seem to be out of sync, no where near their actually location , or the map defaults to the mid South Atlantic!

Mike: Totally agree , love it and Nigel Farage is fantastic. GBN and talkradio it`s the only way to go!

When listening to a National DAB station from a national mux ,when passing a local DAB mast , the national station is suppressed by the local mast when within 2-300 yards of the mast. It may also happen on while passing a national DAB mast while listening to a local DAB station as well .
Does anyone know why this happens ?
When I am passing Braintree Grid , local DAB no loss , but national cuts out .

Many thanks for the answers , my rx was a VW factory fitted standard DAB radio , then I bought a plug in plus receiver , the dropout happened on both.
Now I have a newer VW car with another factory fitted DAB and DAB plus radio , it still happens on the Braintree mux.
I was on the M40 near High Wycombe and passed another local mux , the same dropout happened for 600 or so yards.

Many thanks for the DAB and plus answers, its ok I can live with it for a minute or so driving past.
One more question ,SDN has lots of dropouts in the car Halstead and Sudbury town centre`s very low in the valley , not served by Sudbury mast either.
Nearest masts Great Baddow (Chelmsford), Colchester and Mendlesham Suffolk. If we are having radio DAB switchover ,SDN need more masts and power , otherwise its pointless
Any news if that will ever happen?

Many thanks Chris , although I was in Braintree the other day near the National Grid mast location ,listening to Radio 2 on DAB and this did not happen . Seems only on to be on D1 and SDN.
The mast broadcasts the Essex Mux so also no dropout on that either.

Please if Brian or others can answer this , if 2G is closed down in about 11 years time , can the frequency spectrum be used for TV or DAB ? They could " swap" the current 3 or 4G to the 2G spectrum instead ,which would make space available for more HD on freeview. 4 and 5G have already" nicked" part of the TV spectrum.
Also if BBC3 is coming back to Freeview, what channel on the guide will it use ?
It cannot return to HD as Channel 5 now occupies that HD slot as well.

Halstead
They should use it for Film 4 HD.
