I've now got more choice on on my local Freeview Lite tx'er Calne - ITV+1 now b'casts the Welsh regional programmes instead of ITV South West. So I have the 'great' choice of seeing what's going on in the Welsh valley's and Anglesey weather from middle of Wiltshire!!
Is this just a patching cable plugged in wrong or deliberate decision??

Has anyone else got such a 'nice' choice??

Maybe in future they could change it randomly to differnet regions just to liven things up!!! Scotland next please.

Briantist and Mike - Thanks for explainations - I think! maybe ignorance really is bliss!!

But doesn't this inability to tx the 'correct' ITV+1 into a region bring its rational further into question? People are less likely to watch an irrelavant channel (wrong wx and local news) then woun't the advert demographics fall and revenue drop.

Where as if they were to put ITV3, or better, in place of the +1, up will go the viewer figures etc -- I live in hope!! or go back to SW radio!!!!

A slight stretch away from strict Freeview --but BT TV does not appear on the detailed Calne transmitter channel listing here so will it work in this area and will I be able to get BT Sport since they 'nicked' MotoGP from BBC2. Is it worth signing up for BT TV?

Thanks

Russ Dave Mike:
Many thanks for your answers. My post code is SN11 0RY Marden Way and though some neighbours use Mendip with masts and Ae amps etc they all say it is not solid reception. I've got Freesat but BT are flogging their TV for £1.69 a month on contract renewal presently with a free Rx box but if no BTsport to get the MotoGP without new and expensive dodgie Ae it gives me nothing more than getting already.
Their sale's bods are heavily pushing BTsport but don't mention limited area coverage!!! bad lads.

Many thanks & Cheers

Russ: Yes I have just finished talking to BT and now see I can get BT Sport etc on BB but only through the BT Inifinity product not the old standard BB which I have. The cost of Infinity is to much dosh just for TV as I wouldn't need it in my standard www'ing activites.
I'll stay with freesat and fondly miss MotoGP!!! next year.

Thanks for your advice and Knowledge

It appears they are planning a new development of 72 houses on Silver street which will be in the next field to the Calne TV txer and will be directly between me and the txer.
Could this affect my recvd signal - strength /quality...... ?

Looking at Wilts council planning web site they don't seem to be telling/consulting Arqiva about the new buildings proximity at all. Should they?

Thanks
James

Dave - The mast dosn't look to be 100+ feet high?---- but spec savers>>>>>>

But I cannt see the mast from the highest acessible point on my house and there is reference to 3 storey houses at the top end of the site which I undertand is nearest he mast ?
Is 'effective' line of sight all that really matters at TV freqs and so what's 'underneath' that path no effect?

Still raises the question should Arqiva be told about new build next door

Cheers
