kenny: The Galashiels transmitter is a relay of Selkirk. It transmits exactly the same services as its parent transmitter. The Selkirk transmitter has always been attributed to Border Television, as was.
You are simply too far away from the STV Central transmitters (e.g. Black Hill, Craigkelly) to be able to use them. There is also intervening terrain.
If you really want to get STV then you'll have to look into satellite. STV is available free-to-air - see freesat - Subscription free HD Satellite TV through a Digital Box for the non-subscription Freesat service. (RG47SH)

Can I retune my Freeview to pick up a different BBC area as there are programs which don't appear in my area

Alec: No. Your Freeview box will provide the programmes from the transmitter that your aerial points at.

Hi Briantist - looks like your very busy, just got back to our flat in Kidderminster where we have a wideband antenna pointing at Ridge Hill Transmitter (Herefordshire) as this was better signal than local low power TX's and Sutton Coldfield, went into setup on Sony KDL32EX403 receiver (has HD tuner)and re-tuned and ended up with no BBC so retuned again on full search and all was OK Question is and I have diferent answers from each shop I went into today, is, as from tomorrow the 20th April when Ridge Hill switches over fully to digital will I be able to receive the HD transmissions or will I have to wait until September when Sutton Coldfield switches over? It's amazing what some of the dealers tell you!! Thanks in advance John

Any ideas why I cant get Sky Sports 1 or 2 on my T215 Top Up Tv box? I think it might have something to do with the switch over on the 20th. Before the 20th I was able to get them easily, but now I get nothing. I'm a huge Arsenal fan and not being able to watch them play Tottenham yesterday almost killed me! Any advice on how to get them back would be great. Ta
