Analogue radio on 98.6MHz

The map shows the transmitters using the frequency 98.6MHz for public analogue radio transmission. UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Click on the buttons in the right-hand corner of the map to choose from different frequencies (or multiplexes for DAB).

Could you tell me why Hillz FM, which is 98.6, keep overriding bbc radio 1, 97.9, in my car. I have radio 1 preset but every time I put it on it automatically goes to Hillz. Very annoying! Thank you.

David Moore : Does the radio have an "RDS" system?

If it does, then you might need to enable the "RDS-AF" facility.

This will tell the radio to stick with Radio 1 if the signal on 97.9 becomes poor.

"AF" is a list (supplied digitally) of Alternative Frequencies for a radio station.
