The coloured area on the map represents the locations where DAB reception should be possible in a car, or using a DAB receiver where the aerial is above ground-floor level. Those areas showing shaded with bright colour (one colour per DAB frequency) indoor domestic reception even at ground level should be highly reliable: please remember that the receiver aerial position and how fast you are moving can affect reception reliability.

Why when DAB is so patchy is there not more masts. Travelling from Cornwall to london gets Gold receptio fairly good in cornwall although it fades and once you get passed exeter on the M% you can forget about reception until you reach london.

Alan Francis: Gold is broadcast on local multiplexes in certain areas only, it doesn't have national coverage on DAB.
