This transmitter has no current reported problems

The BBC and Digital UK report there are no faults or engineering work on the Chelmsford (Essex, England) transmitter.

UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Click on the buttons in the right-hand corner of the map to choose from different frequencies (or multiplexes for DAB).

I am in Essex Postcode CM8 ITY
I only receive DAB radio for the Southend area not the Chelmsford area
How can I tune in to the Chelmsford version?

David Harris: There is only one local DAB multiplex for Essex, there are no separate services for Southend and Chelmsford on DAB.

StevensOnln1: Thank you very much for your swift reply., I appreciate your help.
I take then that to receive the Chelmsford version I will have to tune into 103.5 on FM.

I don't get all DAB stations in Chelmsford, no matter what vehicle I use. I've tried re tuning but to no avail. Seems like such a shame considering Chelmsford is the birthplace of radio.

Max: There are four DAB multiplexes that are available in the general Chelmsford area. This isn't to say there aren't places in the city where the signal is poor or non-existent.

Here are the four multiplexes with their channel number so you can scan the specific channels:

BBC National: 12B
Digital One: 11D
Sound Digital: 11A
Essex: 12D

The BBC National, Digital One and Sound Digital multiplexes are transmitted from Danbury (Bakers Lane) and the Essex multiplex is from Bakers Wood. If you find you can't tune to any of the multiplexes, try again on higher ground, perhaps nearer the transmitter. Once you have the radio tuned, then don't retune if you find you loose the signal.
