Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Wenvoe (Cardiff, Wales) mast?

UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Click on the buttons in the right-hand corner of the map to choose from different frequencies (or multiplexes for DAB).

I haven't been able to get bbc radio Wales or Gold on my Dab digital radio for some considerable time. What do I need to do?

Please send our DAB signal from Machen. I live in Rudry Caerphilly.Everyone knows that the signal from Wenvoe is rubbish in Caerphilly. The mountain always caused a shadow in the sixties. We spent half our lives on the roof trying to get a picture. Come on people that was 40 years ago. Why is radio Wales on commercial and not on BBC output. Are we second class citizens. We cannot receive Classic either. Can we have some money spent on us please or are they sending four hundred people to Brazil and spending a Zillion pounds on Chris Pattens leaving do.

Michael Davies: It is planned to transmit the local multiplex for Cardiff/SE Wales from Mynydd Machen. This would add 48,000 households to the service area according to Ofcom data. Due to the BBC national multiplex being an SFN over the whole of the UK any radio stations intended to serve only parts of the UK are carried on local multiplexes, in the required areas.

What's happened to the DAB signal in Cardiff this afternoon? It's awful.
I know I'll use FM instead, fyi it's much clearer with no crackle or squelch at all. Wish I'd discovered this years ago....

I live in Brynmenyn, Bridgend and use Freeview, often I can only receive a weak signal. this is an intermittent problem, which only happens in the afternoons. After approximately 6.00 pm the problem disappears.
I shall appreciate any advice.

Jeff: Does it happen seven days a week? How about Christmas Day? I wonder if it's traffic, if you are indeed receiving from Wenvoe.
First up, check you are actually tuned to the right transmitter (the one your aerial faces).
Bring up the signal strength screen on the following:
PSB1 - BBC One - Wenvoe=C41 / Llangeinor=C59
PSB2 - ITV - Wenvoe=C44 / Llangeinor=C55
PSB3 - BBC One HD - Wenvoe=C47 Llangeinor=C50
