Read this: Freeview upgrade leaves blank screen

Summary: When the free to air digital TV network Freeview made an upgrade to their network, it left between 230,000 and 250,000 households without a picture and if they wanted to watch digital TV again, they would need to buy a new set top box. To be fair to Freeview, they have been advertising for some time through the local press and radio that the upgrade would render some set top boxes obsolete. These are the older models which were produced before the digital tick sign came out this was in 2006. - link
