Read this: RTE's ending of long wave transmission
Summary: Reception of RTEacute One on long wave such as BBC Radio 4 provides simple-to-tune long-range coverage free from co-channel interference experienced on medium wave using simple portable equipment like a transistor radio or car radio. RTEacute should reflect on the benefits of continuing the transmission on long wave by running it in parallel with DAB and FM transmissions. - www.irishtimes.com

May I add my support to keeping this service. I would miss it greatly, as I would the BBC Radio 4 if it was to go.

Mike B if the relatively few cannot get it on FM or digital then they should be served.

steve p: Where can't you get an FM, DAB, Freeview (including Lite), internet (fixed, 3G or Wifi) or satellite TV service?
Not many of those places left I would venture.
If you can't get any of the above, I guess you're not paying the £150 a year fee and don't really deserve a special service.

Brian Rawlinson: Same question really... how can you not manage to listen one of the many, many other ways.
1) Freeview (98.5% coverage)
2) Freesat (or Sky, or Freesat-from-Sky, or fta satellite)
3) VIrgin Media
4) Internet (wired, wireless)
5) DAB
6) FM
Are you just choosing not to?
