charge for the facility to record as part of a Sky+ . Without that, you cannot use this box to record or playback.
If you had a (not ) PVR box with a recoding capability you could record and playback plus it would work with your existing Sky .

I have an old tv box (green 4' x 3' that was placed by the council at the year dot. It is no longer in use. As it is probably still connected to electricity how would I go about getting it removed? It now sits on private property not Council owned.

Peter: I'm not sure what green box is, but ring your local council, they will often pickup bulk items, if only on an annual basis.

BTW - what do you mean by ' it is probably still connected to electricity'?

MikeP it was not "official" ways I had in mind! I bought my box second hand and have never had any relationship with so I feel free to do what I like with it.

Peter can you describe the box better please. You say 4 feet by 3 feet? And how high?

In a building; on the ground, or up a pole?

What purpose did it serve?

Where do you think it is getting electricity from?

Does it have a label?

Can you open it?

But for simplicity if you wrench it off whatever it is fixed to and short out the supply it should blow a fuse somewhere!
