gill: In addition to what Briantist has given you the link for, "if" this all happened within 30 minutes or so of receiving the BBC OK on your previous box, then could you please come back with the information regarding the model number of the new Samsung box.

i have just had a freesat dish and box installed in the living room with a single lnb,
a few weeks later
i bought a quad lnb and routed a new cable into the bedroom the free sat box works fine in both rooms, but i only have one freesat box.
2 days ago i was given a pace skybox it is 8 years old which worked fine at my friends house 50 miles away. i then connected the sky box only to be told no signal,do i need to do something to the setting or do i have to buy a freesat box.

Pti: The LNB on a dish doesn't discriminate against a Freesat Vs Sky box, so if the Freesat box worked OK then the Sky box should do likewise.
I would check the "F" plug on the end of the cable you have installed in case a single strand of wire is shorting it, but if it does prove to be OK then its inclined to indicate that the Sky box has failed.
Does what you say apply when trying the Pace box out in both places? as that's the sure fire way of knowing whether or not its faulty.

Nigel Ogborne: Around about channel 65 would appear as being a reasonable choice based on looking at your reception possibilities.
As far as the RF out channel is concerned, (services 4-0-1-select with no waiting between) you just punch the number in using the Sky remotes channel buttons, sometimes if it appears to stick and not respond press the back up button then try it again.
