Channel 5 +1 launches, 5* and 5USA come to Freesat
As we reported 5* and 5USA coming to Freesat by Christmas, Channel 5 has now provided the full complement of channels to all of the satellite platforms.
You can now view Channel 5 +1 on Sky 177 and Freesat 128.
You can also watch 5* on Sky 176 without a viewing card, and Freesat 131. On Sky 5* +1 has moved to 236 (was 177), and is now on Freesat 132.
The 5USA channel is now free on Sky at 174, and Freesat 129, with 5USA +1 on Sky 175 and Freesat 130.
Channel 5 +1 is now also on Freeview 44, with Channel 5 HD coming to Freeview HD in the coming months.

I get 5 +1 5* and 5USA on my Freesat epg but on trying to view I get 'no signal' - is there anything I can do? I have never had to update new channels before - for instance Argos TV just appeared automatically

We are expecting that Five HD might follow soon but they have annouced they have decided not to take the spare HD channel on Freeview.
Do we think they will not do HD on Freesat and remain Sky Only?

David: It will depend on how much Sky are offering to keep channels exclusive to their platform.

So in Five HD case Sky paying them to be encrypted and on the Sky EPG only.
Who is paying Astra then in this case Sky or Five?

David: For these services, the transmissions are on Sky-renting transponders.

David: Sky uses their "marketing budget" to provide discounted access to their platform for HD channels, as being able to claim they are "exclusive" allows Sky to sell more Sky+HD boxes with their £10 a month additional fee.

Kelly: I have just tried the Freesat channels mentioned by rob (13th Dec) and they are perfectly OK on my TV, what brand of Freesat device are you using?
