I receive German channels via a satelite dish. Will this still be possible when
German TV channels are on the Astra 1 satellites at 19.2E, and are owned by SES Astra of Luxembourg.
UK digital switchover has occurred on satellite - all UK services are digital and are at 28.2E (on Astra 2A, 2B and 2D satellites).
The changeover from analogue terrestrial to Freeview is completely independent of both of these services, and is a decision of the German TV companies.

It has just occurred to me that you might like to log in to MEDIATHEK on the internet which is the German internet Hub for many German T.V. channels Live or "Catchup" This will provide a stop gap solution if you have not bought a Digital box yet.
Best wishes. Derek.

I am looking for a satellite receiver/recorder to enable me to watch Astra 19.2 foreign language programmes. I would like the receiver to have the series link recording facility. Can you please recommend a suitable box?

Paul Chevalier:
In the absence of anyone more up-to-date on such receiver/recorders advising, I would have expected most newer models to have "series ink recording" facilities. Otherwise you'd have to do a "search". Check out the specifications for each of them, and check to see if there are any reviews for them anywhere.

Hi Paul I use a Panasonic DMR-BST940 Satellite Blu-ray Recorder but I bought it from a German supplier on Amazon UK Marketplace in 2015 & don't think that model is on the market anymore. It doesn't have series link but does support weekly or daily (MON-FRI, MON-SAT etc) recording. Panasonic stopped marketing their satellite recorders in the UK a while back but they still sell later models on Amazon DE and you may be able to find a supplier prepared to send it to the UK
