How do I change the RF output channel on a Sky Digibox?
Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
Then press [4] to go to the RF output menu.
You can now change the value so that it does not clash with an analogue TV channel or a Freeview multiplex.
HD and "new EPG" boxes
If you have a HD box, press [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]. Nothing is shown on the TV screen until you press the Select button. Then use the [RIGHT] arrow button on the remote until this screen is shown, and press SELECT to change the values:

malcolm: If you are using the standard RF2 output from the Sky HD box its virtually impossible not to have any audio unless its caused by something connected with the 2nd TV you are using, as the analogue RF video and audio signal from the Sky box cannot be separated insomuch that if something goes wrong both will stop working.
Are you positive that the audio on the TV hasn't been muted or even just turned down?

JB 38 , i have retuned my 2nd tv using the first installation setting and i now have sound and vision , great . I then tried to set up the commtel satellite tv digital link but i cant get the red light on !! i took the 2nd tv up to the house and over a much shorter connection the red light comes on ! i am assuming that the failure to get it to work in the summerhouse could be due to the distance away from the house ..... about 30 metres and i have read that this COMMTEL producthas a max rang of 30 metres ( it has however worked before in the summer house !!)is there anything i can do ?
Ever in hope

malcolm: Provided that you have a "direct" cable link (no wall plate unless a straight through type) between the Sky boxes RF2 output and the input to the magic eye then unfortunately there isn't really anything that you can do about the red light situation except by trying a different brand of eye, as to be perfectly honest about it many of these devices just work and no more at the best of times, and indeed even if you were armed with a few of these Commtell types you would most likely find that some worked better than others as they are just erratic devices, the erratic element really being revealed when used in long cable length situations.
Although it has to be said that its not just the case of them being extremely sensitive to cable lengths but also the quality of the cable used between both devices, so this is another factor that has to be taken into account.
That said though, you are not by any means alone as far as experiencing this type of difficulty is concerned and the problem is not always just caused by the sensitivity of the eye or type of cable used for the link, because many people who had been successfully using a eye with a standard Sky box for a few years suddenly found that the eye would not work when they upgraded to Sky+, as the circuitry used in these + boxes for the eye simply wasn't up to the standard of the older boxes, and there was even complaints from some regarding the RF modulators being somewhat weaker as well, this resulting in a slightly grainy picture being seen whereas before upgrading it was perfect.
I don't know if you had maybe just upgraded to Sky and still have your old box stored away, but if you have then purely for a test connect the mains lead into it and the cable link into its RF2 and check if the eye in the summer house lights up, as that would at least verify the continuity of the cable as far as DC is concerned.
I regret not being able to be more positive about my reply, but the only thing that anyone can do in your type of situation is to try a different brand of eye "if" they know that the cable connection is sound between both devices, as although RF can pass through a bad connection with only a slight grain showing on the picture, but the 9 volts or so that operates the eye wont!

JB38..... Thanks for your reply , looks like i am a bit stuffed !
cable quality should be fine as i bought it off a professional firm who fitted me a couple of aerials .
got a new sky + box about 6 mths ago ... got rid of the old one !
i will try a different brand and check connections but iam not very hopeful .
i am also reluctant to get an enginner to have a look in view of your comments plus it will cost me £50 with no guarantee of success .
Anyway i really appreciate your input .
Regards
Malcolm

Hi JB38 did you have any comments on this, yes it is just when on sky and not all the time. For example if i change the RF channel or just switch the sky box on and off it may be ok for a few hours but then just drops out again. The picture is fine. I have tried taking the arial out the back but again seems to drop out. I have tried the different spare RF channels as recommended by post code but still no permanent success. Any other recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks

JB38 i wanted to add that i am also feeding a Freeview signal through the Sky boxes normal aerial socket for purposes of viewing either Freeview or Sky in the other room . my post code is TF9 4HY, is there a particular TV or RF channel i should be using, i have used 46 for RF on tv channel 2. Thanks again and look forward to your reply

JAMES: No, avoid Ch42 as thats used for the SDN mux (ITV3 etc) by the high powered Sutton Coldfield transmitter, and on checking the various stations that you are predicted as being able to receive (in theory anyway!)Ch63 upwards looks to be the best range to use for the boxes RF output.

JAMES: Correction, its used by the ITV1 mux at Sutton Coldfield and not SDN.

JAMES: The other ranges that would appear a safe bet are from Ch32 - Ch37, I only mention this as "some" boxes RF modulators give a slightly higher output in lower ranges and likewise a less grainy image, and so if Ch63 upwards has a tendency to be grainy try the lower range.
And by the way just to confirm Ch42 and Ch46 are both used by Sutton Coldfield, albeit I mistakenly thought you had mentioned Ch42 due to my laptop battery having failed and "thought" that I had remembered the number.
But as I mentioned in a much earlier reply, if the sound is distorted when viewing Sky via the RF output from the Sky box and it still does it when you take the normal aerial out of the Sky box, then it suggests that the actual TV is defective, and although its not entirely impossible for a fault like that to originate within the Sky boxes modulator, in the somewhat lengthy period of time I have been involved with devices such as that I have never experienced this sort of problem.
Of course the positive way of proving if it is the TV or not is to borrow another set, even if just analogue, and try a test using that once the sound becomes distorted on the LG.

Just wondering if anyone had some advice... I am trying to get sky HD to run to two tv's. This has been done via a hdmi splitter, but we are obviously unable to change channel.... Can I use a magic eye or similiar device?
