How do I change the RF output channel on a Sky Digibox?
Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
Then press [4] to go to the RF output menu.
You can now change the value so that it does not clash with an analogue TV channel or a Freeview multiplex.
HD and "new EPG" boxes
If you have a HD box, press [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]. Nothing is shown on the TV screen until you press the Select button. Then use the [RIGHT] arrow button on the remote until this screen is shown, and press SELECT to change the values:

Paul: Are you (or not as the case may be) using a normal aerial connected into the Sky boxes aerial socket for the purpose of feeding the signal through the box and onto a Freeview TV in the bedroom? because if you are then can you receive Freeview on the bedroom TV? obviously when changed to DTV from analogue used for Sky.
If what has been said doesnt apply, then can you confirm that when you tried the bedroom TV (set on analogue if dual standard) directly into the Sky boxes RF2 that this was via the magic eye? but did you try it without the magic eye connected into the Sky boxes RF1 and give the TV a retune (on analogue) whilst connected to the RF1 socket? because if it didnt work then that can point directly to the modulator having failed.
By the way when you reset the Sky+ box, was that done by disconnecting the mains lead for about 30 seconds or so before reconnecting again and allowing it to go through its usual searching for listings procedure?
The other point being, that when you altered the Sky boxes RF output channel did you save the setting? although Sky boxes sometimes give a better RF output using channels in the 63+ ranges.

Paul : Also meant to include, that if you are using a normal aerial connected into the Sky boxes aerial input to feed a Freeview signal into the bedroom TV then for test purposes remove it.

jb38:sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I have tried your suggestions and it looks like your suggestion about the modulator may be correct. I tried connecting the tv directly to the rf1 using a coax that works on another tv and it still doesn`t pick up anything when I tune it in.
When there was still rf power to the magic eye on rf2 I wasn`t sure if it was possible for there to be no signal.
I did unplug the sky box for 30 seconds and set the rf channel back to its original setting. I also tried 2 other channel numbers suggested by this site.
The fact that the setup had worked for several weeks and that there is no signal from either rf1 or rf2 when connected directly makes me think it is broken.
Thanks for your help.

Paul: No problem! as I realise that not everyone has a surplus of spare time, but as far as what you have found out is concerned magic eye's will still operate as normal even although the RF side might have failed, as although they might well be from the same socket they are sourced from different circuits within the box, and if you failed to pick up anything up whilst the TV was connected directly into the boxes RF1 output socket and the TV in question was definitely set on analogue, then the modulator has failed, not exactly a common problem but likewise not by any means unheard of as I am aware that there was a small number of Sky + boxes around (about 2 years ago) that were fitted with substandard modulators.
But though, just to give a 100% confirmation that it is definitely the modulator and not the analogue tuner in your TV that has failed (as it can!) try the same test on your lounge TV that's presently coupled into the Sky box via a scart lead.
First of all, to avoid any confusion take one end of the scart lead out of either the TV or the Sky box so that the TV will not automatically switch over to it, then make sure that you have the TV's aerial socket connected directly into the Sky boxes RF1 output socket and carry out an "analogue" rescan on the TV, because if it doesn't pick up the box either then the modulator has definitely failed.

diane: If you have not altered anything on the Sky box that feeds the various rooms via its RF2 output, then if all you have done is to purchase a new TV it has to be set on "analogue" (not Digital) and a retune carried out so that it can find the Sky boxes RF channel, when it does remember to press "store" or "save" because unless you do it will be lost again as soon as you go off the channel.
By the way, I am not quite clear with regards to whether your new TV is a Sony or a Bush? as you mention both, not that this matters anyway as the information given covers any TV.

jb38:i tried as you suggested and connected the rf1 to the livingroom tv, removed the scart connection and retuned the tv. it didn`t pick up any channels so i guess the modulator must not be working.
thanks for your help.

Paul: Yes! as that test gave a 100% verification that the modulator has failed, of course if the box is not under any type of guarantee you could use an external modulator coupled into the Sky boxes scart socket, as the external modulator acts exactly in the same way as the failed internal one, and purely for reference purposes I give the undermentioned link to the type of thing I am referring to, should they still stock it! although there are other sources around.

Could you help please - we have a magic eye link into a different room from the Sky box but it massively elongates the picture - any ideas...?

nick: If you are referring to the TV in the different room then press "services" then 4 - 1 on the Sky box and make sure that 4:3 is selected on the the "second location picture format" bar, also if the TV being used is a wide screen type then check to make sure that its "picture ratio" options (or whatever they call it on your TV) is either set on 4:3 or auto.
That said though, sometimes its very difficult (or nearly impossible) to correct this sort of thing via an RF link.
