I have now lost all signal can you tell me what the problem might be?
The problem could be one of:
- the aerial has been moved or damaged;
- the cables or connectors that connect the digibox to the aerial are damaged;
- the digibox has broken.
If you have a "spare" digibox you use this to test the aerial connection. Can you still watch analogue TV OK?

Steve: Digital television, as with digital radio (DAB) is broadcast in multiplexes whereby each multiplex (which is a single signal) carries multiple services. BBC standard definition TV and radio are all on the same multiplex, hence you've lost reception of that multiplex (PSB1).
Maybe your problem is caused by the signal level being too high, but this is likely only in really strong signal areas. Or maybe PSB1 is on UHF channel 60 which is the closest to the 4G in the 800MHz band and that is the problem. Without knowledge of your location it is impossible to know whether these could be the reason.

Steve: If the BBC channels are distorted, not lost, it sound like your signal is too high - certainly 100% strength is.

Hi, we woke up this morning and we have the same thing all the sky channels work movies sport etc even ITV but no BBC any channel and no Channel 4. I spoke to SKY on chat they advised there side is fine and I should phone to arrange an engineer visit. I will leave it a few days and see. Maybe they are going round Britain upgrading things.
Thanks for reading

I have a Sony Bravia TV and Humax recorder - both new and when I set them up all the channels were working well Z that was 4 days ago and now some channels (like Yesterday) are behaving as tho there is a very poor signal - picture seizing up though sound okay but the signal bar looks healthy. I have re-tuned and turned it all off and re-booted but nothing seems to change. Any ideas?

I live in north London, Islington, and have had problems with losing all BBC reception via Freeview intermittently for the past couple of months, with one day at the weekend with no reception of any channels at all! I've doubled checked all the cables/wiring inside that I can, and they seem ok.
I just spoke to someone at at800, who said a new 4G transmitter had been activated, so they are going to send me a filter to try out...fingers crossed this will solve the problem. It is noticeable that the signal strength in general is a lot lower now than it used to be though, around 60%.
And also, does anyone know if BT Infinity broadband is likely to be a factor - I had this installed around the same time as these reception problems started?

Seetha Narayanan: Have you ever considered that your signal comes down a thin copper wire, which can get frayed, damaged, worn or get water inside?
Occams Razor probably means that its your system, rather than anything else. You may have checked inside, but I suspect there is a fault somewhere. Was the loss of all signal about the same time as there was heavy rain? Did it come back when the weather inproved? Your down to 60% strength, yet your really very close to Crystal Palace - that again points to your wiring.
And no, broadband has nothing to do with TV reception.

All BBC channels on Freeview disappear when it gets dark, but are fine the rest of the day. There's no problem withCh4, ITV etc. The site is EH6 6PA, on the banks of the Forth.

Duncan: If, as it would appear, you are connected into a communal aerial system? have you enquired with any of the other residents in the apartments to ascertain if they are also experiencing similar problems, as by you being located directly across the Firth of Forth from the Craigkelly transmitter (@ 6.2 miles) virtually nothing can interfere with the signal, that is "if" you are tuned to the Craigkelly transmitter and not Blackhill.
Try carrying out a signal check on the BBC, this not so much for the strength but to view the Mux channel number associated with the strength, Craigkelly being C27 whereas Blackhill is C46, You should also try the test on ITV3, Craigkelly being C42 Blackhill C41.
The only reason for requesting this test being, that from experience in the somewhat distant past, its known that if for some reason or another residents in the Leith area of Edinburgh have managed to store channels from the Blackhill transmitter rather than Craigkelly, this has only been possible via reflections off the Firth of Forth, likewise the signals vanishing again when the tide changes.

Dave: Thanks for the advice. Looking at where we are on the map, if you drew a line between Stockland and Rowridge we'd be bang on it. We also have a clear line of sight across Poole Harbour in the direction of Stockland Hill and nearby buildings ar arranged to provide a pretty good reflection of the unwanted signal into the front of the aerial.
I want to stay horizontal as I watch BBC4 HD but I want to be able to pick up ITVBe (wifey is a TOWIE addict) so I'm considering fitting another aerial on the same mast vertically and using a masthead combiner to mix the two signals. Initial googling says this would work but would appreciate your advice on this as I also have a masthead amplifier and am concerned about mismatching.
