Can I use an existing sky dish with a freeview box? and if so can the two servic
No, you cannot use a satellite box to receive terrestrial programmes.
I don't want to use a satellite box I have a freeview box. I want to know if an existing dish for sky can be use with the freeview box.Can I use a cable splitter and run one end to the sky box the the other to a freeview box and get the freeview channels.
You cannot use a Freeview receiver with a satellite dish, only an aerial.
You also cannot split a satellite signal from a dish, if you want to run more than one box you must use a dual- or quad-LNB on the satellite dish and have a cable to each satellite receiver.

Gisoo: I certainly feel that you have chosen the best option, as apart from the channels issue it would really be a bit of a waste not to use the ex-Sky dish already installed, with another plus point of Freesat being that unlike terrestrial Freeview excellent reception can be guaranteed for almost 99.9% of the time, as any time that a glitch or two does happen usually always being during heavy thundery downpour.
This is a link from the site that shows the comparisons between programme availability over the three services, Sky's "free to view" offering, Freeview and Freesat.

jon: You wouldn't be able to record anything anyway as Sky disables the recording side of the box when the subscription is cancelled, so if the just extend the single cable the box will operate like a normal Sky box.
Remember though to use a proper "F" plug to "F" plug connector if you are joining the cable, and the cable must not have anything else tagged on to it.

I moved into a new flat that has a sky dish installed but I only have an old sky box with a single input where as the sky dish has two inputs. How can I use my old box on this set up? or do I need to buy a freesat box (do they have two inputs)?

Karl:
You can use either of the cables coming out of the dish to plug into your Sky box. The second lead is for another satellite box or a box with record facillity, such boxes requiring two connections.
Hope this helps,
Adam.

I have Sky in my living room and want to have Freesat in my bedroom. We have purchased a Quad LNB but do not know what to do next,or how to fit it on to the sky dish. I have co-axle cable, is the the right stuff, and do we need any other fittings before climbing up onto the roof. My darling man would be a bit peeved if he does not have all the goodies to do the job, Any help please

Hi, I have a satellite dish which is dual feed pointing at Astra 19°E and Hotbird 13°E, would it be possible to add a 3rd LNB for freesat and connect a freesat box?
Thanks
Jackie

JACKIE: You can do that, but it might be just bother to fit another dish.

Just bought a Samsung LCD to replace old analogue tele, existing sky plus box works ok but without hi-def. How can I utilise the built-in freeview hd in my new tele and still keep the existing sky set up?
