What can I do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fau
How to Reset a Sky Digibox when 'No Signal' appears.
Reset method 1 - Delete and Rescan
- Turn the power off at the mains socket. Either do this by pulling the plug from the socket, or using a power switch if there is one.
- Remove the viewing card from the machine. Using a dry cloth or kitchen roll, clean the gold connector on the reverse of the card. Do not use any cleaning products.
- Check cables and connectors are in good order.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- With the card still out of the machine, plug the Digibox back into the mains.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.
Reset Method 2 - Reset the LNB
If the above method does not work, the LNB may have a fault.- Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
On Sky HD, press the [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
Press the buttons in the sequence above exactly - do not atttempt to use [UP] or [DOWN]. Note that when you press the second 0 and 1 nothing happens on the screen until you press the final [SELECT]. This is a "hidden menu". - Then press [1] to go to the RF output menu.
- Press [DOWN] three times to highlight the line 22Khz Command and then press [RIGHT] to change the value to [OFF].
- Press [DOWN] and [SELECT] to select Save New Settings.
- Press [SKY].
- Again press [SERVICES], [4], [0], [1], [SELECT]; then [1] again for the LNB Menu. (SERVICES 0 0 1 SELECT for Sky HD).
- Now press the [RED] button (reset all settings), then [DOWN] until you can select Save New Settings again.
- Press [SKY].
Reset Method 3 - Upgrade the system software
If there are still problems:- Turn the Digibox off at the mains again and remove the viewing card.
- Whilst holding down the BACKUP key on the Digibox - NOT ON THE REMOTE - turn the mains power on.
- Keep hold of BACKUP until the screen displays a "UPGRADING SYSTEM SOFTWARE" message ââ¬â this will be white text on a black screen. On some boxes this can appear as a half screen.
- Wait 10 to 20 minutes for the software to download and install. The box will restart when the process is complete.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

Hi all. On the Herts/Bucks/Beds border ourselves and can confirm as of 14:40 today there is still a 'no satellite signal received' error message coming up.
Will an LNB reset assist at all?
Oddly i can't even watch 'On Demand' through my home plug connection, it keeps saying 'Sky HD box is initialising'. Surely this has nothing to do with the Sky dish?

No Sky since last night at about 18:00.
Weird thing is that neighbours seem to be ok, but they don't have HD, should that make a difference?

aldbeagle: Regarding the latter, if your neighbour is using a separate dish from yourself then the answer is none whatsoever!
Carry out a proper signal check using the undermentioned procedure as you might still have a signal but its just sitting at level thats too low to resolve a picture.
If using a Standard or Sky+ box.
(1): Press: "Services" - 4 - 6 and this will take you onto the signal checking screen.
If using a Sky+ HD box. (latest menu system)
(1): Press "Services" and you will see the main menu with "Options" being highlighted.
(2): Press the right arrow once to change from Options to "Settings" and press on once highlighted.
(3): Finally, scroll to the right to select and press on "Signal", the grey bars now displayed will show you the strength / quality of the signal.
Any signal levels indicated has to around the 55% (or equivalent of) minimum level to resolve a picture, if though nothing is being indicated then water could have entered the "F" connector.
Further advice dependant on findings.

Thanks for the reply jb38.
I can confirm that I have absolutely no signal whatsoever in inputs 1 or 2.
Furthermore, I have no access to my Planner either, so maybe its a box issue?

aldbeagle: Although there are other checks you can make, but if you are on friendly terms with your neighbours it would save a great deal of time if they would allow you to try out your box on their dish, because if it worked then you would know for certain that your problem is connected to the dish or its LNB.
If though that's not possible then carry out the following LNB checks.
LNB checking - reset on a Sky HD box
1:- Press services on your Sky remote control and you will see the main menu with "Options" highlighted.
2:- Highlight the "Settings" menu using the right arrow button and press select.
3:- Press "0 - 1 - Select" to access the Installer setup menu (this menu is not listed on the Settings menu options).
4:- Press Select to see the Setup menu displayed with Hi and Lo band frequencies indicated.
The correct LNB values should read:
LNB Type: Standard
1:- Low Band LO Frequency: 9.75
2:- High Band LO Frequency:10.60
3:- LNB Power Supply: ON
4:- 22 KHz Command: ON
5:- Single feed mode normally off.
Press the red button to reset them to default values even although they may
already be indicating them.

I have 'no signal' on my second box in my bedroom, but the signal is fine on my main box downstairs. The issue must be with the box? But it was totally fine one minute, then no signal the next! Tried the usual wires, turning off and back on, etc. Sky wont send an engineer out until 22nd!

minn: Try temporarily swapping the upstairs box over with the one in the living room (or vice versa) and that will instantly let you know if the box is faulty or not.

Thanks again jb38 for taking your time to help me out here.
Have tried resetting the LNB values, all were as you had suggested they would be. I reset them all as advised, but still nothing. I did switch the box off and back on afterwards, but still no joy....(sobs uncontrollably)!
Might try your suggestion about swapping with my neighbours box, temporarily, unless of course their hard drive is bigger than mine!

I had the same problem ....
Swapped boxes and the old Sky box still showed no signal.
I played with it for ages, sat on the signal strength screen for ages.......
Used to have HD multi room with 2 feeds, whilst swapping feeds it suddenly came up with almost full strength and I was only holding the lead to the box. Bent the middle wire of the feeding co ax and shoved it back in..... BINGO!!!
No explanation for this as the box had not moved and is now on a different feed???

ald beagle: I didnt actually mean you to try swapping with your neighbours box, but just if they would let you try "your box on their dish" for purposes of finding out if your box would search for and find listings.
Of course if you borrowed your neighbours box you would only require to take the box with the remote but minus any leads, as your mains connector is the same as theirs and you already have a scart link going to your TV, as far as the dish feed is concerned you would only use their boxes LNB1 input as the LNB2 input is basically for recording purposes, you might though get a false no signal warning but just ignore as its only the signal checking screen you wish to access using the procedure previously mentioned.
If though you just take your box into your neighbours it would only really involve taking the box along with its mains connection and scart lead (plus remote) into your neighbours, then after placing your neighbours box in standby unscrewing their boxes LNB1 (and only 1) input connector and coupling it into your box, then connecting your boxes scart lead into their TV's scart input socket which of course might not be used, as by their box being an HD type it will only be connected into their TV using an HDMI lead.
The only thing remaining that you "might" have to do is select AV1 input via the "input select" button their TV's remote control, although if you have correctly left your box switched off whilst connecting everything up, then after switching the box on and allowing about 15 seconds for it to stabilise as soon as you press Sky on your boxes remote the TV should switch over to it, if it doesn't then press TV on your remote followed by pressing Sky again.
There is absolutely no danger of damaging anything on your neighbours TV if you follow these instructions, if anything is unclear dont hesitate to ask for clarification.
