What can I do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fau
How to Reset a Sky Digibox when 'No Signal' appears.
Reset method 1 - Delete and Rescan
- Turn the power off at the mains socket. Either do this by pulling the plug from the socket, or using a power switch if there is one.
- Remove the viewing card from the machine. Using a dry cloth or kitchen roll, clean the gold connector on the reverse of the card. Do not use any cleaning products.
- Check cables and connectors are in good order.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- With the card still out of the machine, plug the Digibox back into the mains.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.
Reset Method 2 - Reset the LNB
If the above method does not work, the LNB may have a fault.- Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
On Sky HD, press the [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
Press the buttons in the sequence above exactly - do not atttempt to use [UP] or [DOWN]. Note that when you press the second 0 and 1 nothing happens on the screen until you press the final [SELECT]. This is a "hidden menu". - Then press [1] to go to the RF output menu.
- Press [DOWN] three times to highlight the line 22Khz Command and then press [RIGHT] to change the value to [OFF].
- Press [DOWN] and [SELECT] to select Save New Settings.
- Press [SKY].
- Again press [SERVICES], [4], [0], [1], [SELECT]; then [1] again for the LNB Menu. (SERVICES 0 0 1 SELECT for Sky HD).
- Now press the [RED] button (reset all settings), then [DOWN] until you can select Save New Settings again.
- Press [SKY].
Reset Method 3 - Upgrade the system software
If there are still problems:- Turn the Digibox off at the mains again and remove the viewing card.
- Whilst holding down the BACKUP key on the Digibox - NOT ON THE REMOTE - turn the mains power on.
- Keep hold of BACKUP until the screen displays a "UPGRADING SYSTEM SOFTWARE" message ââ¬â this will be white text on a black screen. On some boxes this can appear as a half screen.
- Wait 10 to 20 minutes for the software to download and install. The box will restart when the process is complete.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

Dave: Have you tried your box on your housemates satellite connection? as although its maybe connected into the same dish it will "not" be on the outlet you are using, as satellite receivers cannot share an output from a dish as the box sends band switching instructions (tone & voltage) to the dish, or alternatively distribution amplifier if on a communal dish system such as used in apartment blocks.
Another point to note being, any box that works for a while after rebooting before failing again can be symptomatic of the boxes internal power unit being defective, and if you try your box out on an alternative outlet connection leave it running for as long as possible.
That said is fully acknowledging the fact of you having stated that you tried another box on your outlet connection and it failed, which does indeed suggest that your outlet connection is defective, but thought it best to also mention about the potentially misleading symptom experienced by many users of older (standard) boxes, if applicable!

I have been watching Create & Craft on Sky for several years with no problem, now the picture is broken up and unwatchable, all other chanels are OK. I contacted Sky who "resent" the signal but it is the same, I also contacted Create & Craft who did not reply, so can anyone advise please? I have checked all the cables etc, switched off and so on but no change.

Dave: Yes, best policy, but just to clarify on a point, when I was referring to the symptoms experienced on some boxes with defective power supplies, this was with reference to the boxes "internal" power unit and nothing external to it, the time factor before failure coming into the equation connected with the length of time it takes for the defective component to heat up before failing, which can be about an hour or so if located in a reasonably warm room.
I did also mean to mention, that if you are "not" connected into a communal system and are using the same dish as your housemate, then the LNB port you are connected into could be defective and yet the one next to it is OK, as the outputs are isolated from each other.
Another possible reason for your problem being that water has crept into the "F" connector on the end of the coax thats screwed into the LNB, this would require unscrewing in order to check it out for possible water contamination.

Steve : Go into your Sky boxes signal check screen ("services - 4 - 6" on a standard box) and check the strength and quality levels indicated, both should be around 60% minimum and with the quality "not" being lower than the strength, as on a well aligned dish its usually higher.
If the quality is found to be lower, then this can cause problems with some programme channels even although they are on the same transponder as others that are OK, should this apply then the dish requires slight realigning, this usually being in the left / right horizontal plane.

loubod: Realistically, your buying another one...
However, perhaps think about getting a PVR with twin HD tuners, like the Humax. It also has a scart, so you can use it with a CRT TV.

loubod: I am quite amazed that your box has lasted this long, as the electrolytic capacitors used in the internal power supplies of these models had to be replaced even as far back as 8 or 9 years ago due to the heat generated within the box having dried them out, the effect of this being a reduction in the voltage being fed into various parts of the circuitry resulting in a range of problems being experienced by the user, what you have reported being one of them.
Replacement power units are no longer available for this model, although the capacitors are should any electronics enthusiast wish to attempt a cure, which when taking the age of the box into account, is quite frankly not really worth the trouble.

Yesterday I had a single connection LNB working perfectly on a freesat box that had the ability to take a twin connection LNB thereby allowing watch and record facility.
I bought a new LNB ran a second cable then very carefully removed the old one and fitted the new LNB. With the new LNB in place I have lost reception and get the message ' receiver is not receiving a signal or the signal is too weak'.
I replaced the old LNB wired into the original cable but still have no signal.
I am a total beginner at this and no technophobe but I cannot understand what could have gone wrong, any ideas?
