What can I do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fau
How to Reset a Sky Digibox when 'No Signal' appears.
Reset method 1 - Delete and Rescan
- Turn the power off at the mains socket. Either do this by pulling the plug from the socket, or using a power switch if there is one.
- Remove the viewing card from the machine. Using a dry cloth or kitchen roll, clean the gold connector on the reverse of the card. Do not use any cleaning products.
- Check cables and connectors are in good order.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- With the card still out of the machine, plug the Digibox back into the mains.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.
Reset Method 2 - Reset the LNB
If the above method does not work, the LNB may have a fault.- Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
On Sky HD, press the [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
Press the buttons in the sequence above exactly - do not atttempt to use [UP] or [DOWN]. Note that when you press the second 0 and 1 nothing happens on the screen until you press the final [SELECT]. This is a "hidden menu". - Then press [1] to go to the RF output menu.
- Press [DOWN] three times to highlight the line 22Khz Command and then press [RIGHT] to change the value to [OFF].
- Press [DOWN] and [SELECT] to select Save New Settings.
- Press [SKY].
- Again press [SERVICES], [4], [0], [1], [SELECT]; then [1] again for the LNB Menu. (SERVICES 0 0 1 SELECT for Sky HD).
- Now press the [RED] button (reset all settings), then [DOWN] until you can select Save New Settings again.
- Press [SKY].
Reset Method 3 - Upgrade the system software
If there are still problems:- Turn the Digibox off at the mains again and remove the viewing card.
- Whilst holding down the BACKUP key on the Digibox - NOT ON THE REMOTE - turn the mains power on.
- Keep hold of BACKUP until the screen displays a "UPGRADING SYSTEM SOFTWARE" message ââ¬â this will be white text on a black screen. On some boxes this can appear as a half screen.
- Wait 10 to 20 minutes for the software to download and install. The box will restart when the process is complete.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

I have been without Sky for over a month. I thought it was due to bad weather. I cannot record. Those planned for recording cannot be viewed.

Pam Paterson: Have you contacted Sky's technical support? Power your box off at the mains for a couple of minutes then turn it back on and give it 5-10 minutes to go through it's startup procedure and scan for channels, then if it isn't back to normal give Sky a call.

Yes. The same satellites used by Sky are used for Freesat so the same dish is perfect for getting Freesat - even the LNB and wiring is the same. Just connect the cables from the dish LNB to the inputs of your Freesat receiver. Good ones are available for reasonable prices and you can get a STB that can record as well for around 150 or so for a good one. There are some cheaper but they are often suspect for reliability in my experience.

Your first action should be to switch off the Sky box with the remote control and then unplug the mains supply to the box by switching off the mains socket and pulling out the black mains plug from the back of the Sky box. Then wait at least 5 minutes. Then put the mains plug back into the back of the Sky box followed by reconnecting the mains supply and switching that on. Then wait another 5 minutes to let the Sky box set itself up again. Then use the remote control to switch it back on to its normal operation and check that the TV shows a picture and gives sound (it will normally show channel 998 first). If all is well then problem solved. If you still don't get sound and pictures, try changing channel to 101 and you should get BBC1. If not, then the Sky box probably has a fault that should be reported. If you took out the insurance it should be covered, otherwise they will charge.

I have 2 Dion Digital Set Top Boxes that I've had for some years. All of a sudden one of them has lost all the channels. I have tried retuning, factory reset, everything, but it just keeps saying 'no carriers detected'. I haven't moved anything around and have checked that nothing has become dislodged. The other box is still working fine.

Sarah Anthony: Try swapping the boxes around and see if the problem moves with the box or whether the currently working box looses its channels (don't retune the box that is working).

Hi, we have just installed our old sky box in our village hall. WEe tried it and were able to get Free View. No the sky box will only play sound and the TV display "No Signal".
Having read all the previous notes and having followed all the instruction am I doing something wrong!! I even connected the Sky Box by 2 methods and they both gave the same results.

It would appear that you had been getting the 'free to air' channels via your Sky box (not quite the same as Freeview as they are purely terrestrial transmissions). Try disconnecting the mains supply to the box for at least 5 minutes, then plugging in the mains again and wating another 5 minutes before try to see what sound and pictures you get. If there is still nothing then you may have a fault in the box.
