What can I do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fau
How to Reset a Sky Digibox when 'No Signal' appears.
Reset method 1 - Delete and Rescan
- Turn the power off at the mains socket. Either do this by pulling the plug from the socket, or using a power switch if there is one.
- Remove the viewing card from the machine. Using a dry cloth or kitchen roll, clean the gold connector on the reverse of the card. Do not use any cleaning products.
- Check cables and connectors are in good order.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- With the card still out of the machine, plug the Digibox back into the mains.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.
Reset Method 2 - Reset the LNB
If the above method does not work, the LNB may have a fault.- Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
On Sky HD, press the [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
Press the buttons in the sequence above exactly - do not atttempt to use [UP] or [DOWN]. Note that when you press the second 0 and 1 nothing happens on the screen until you press the final [SELECT]. This is a "hidden menu". - Then press [1] to go to the RF output menu.
- Press [DOWN] three times to highlight the line 22Khz Command and then press [RIGHT] to change the value to [OFF].
- Press [DOWN] and [SELECT] to select Save New Settings.
- Press [SKY].
- Again press [SERVICES], [4], [0], [1], [SELECT]; then [1] again for the LNB Menu. (SERVICES 0 0 1 SELECT for Sky HD).
- Now press the [RED] button (reset all settings), then [DOWN] until you can select Save New Settings again.
- Press [SKY].
Reset Method 3 - Upgrade the system software
If there are still problems:- Turn the Digibox off at the mains again and remove the viewing card.
- Whilst holding down the BACKUP key on the Digibox - NOT ON THE REMOTE - turn the mains power on.
- Keep hold of BACKUP until the screen displays a "UPGRADING SYSTEM SOFTWARE" message ââ¬â this will be white text on a black screen. On some boxes this can appear as a half screen.
- Wait 10 to 20 minutes for the software to download and install. The box will restart when the process is complete.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

Andy: Which of the 4 or 5 regional versions of ITV1HD have you lost?
The ITV1 on 11973, that required a sky card, has been moved to the same frequency as BBC1HD.
All of the ITV1HDs are now on Astra 2d.

my mother stays in retirement flats and would love to get sky plus, but has been told the present communal dish isnt suitable and the cost of the upgrade is considerable she does recieve sky from the present dish. I need to know can you plug a hard drive recorder into a system with a sky box and which is the simplest or nearest to the sky plus system ?............thanks .

Amfagan - Your mother could use a Technisat "Freesat" receiver utilising a single feed from the existing communal dish. This is a single tuner receiver which requires a high capacity pen drive or alternatively an external Laptop Hard Drive. The receiver has USB ports front and back to plug either of these into. This difference between this and a SKY or Freesat twin tuner is that it can only record one channel whilst watching another rather than two. The Freesat service is supported by the BBC and ITV therefore no subscription required. You cannot access the SKY Pay per View Channels if that's what she is after. Technisat HDFS HD receiver is £120 with 3year warranty plus the cost of a storage drive. It will connect directly to the wall socket outlet.

Amfagan: if she pays a monthly sky subscription, then the SkyHD box will work on one feed...it even has an option to work with one feed rather than the two. If this is not selected, then the box will try and used the unconnected input to record. Thi is a problem with a bsic Sky+ box, as they do not have this "single feed" mode, like the HD boxes have. However, without two cables from either a Sky+ / SkyHD or Freesat receiver, recording and watching different channels at he same time will be comprommised.

Hi,
Gradually worsened problem. Couple of weeks ago I had some channeles (especially up in music / film on sky breaking up; this progressed to a number of channels having NO SIGNAL 28 message but the majority were still fine and even very clear. When on a channel with no signal the signal strength non existent and not locked were showing but when on a visible channel this was strong and locked.
Over this last week the number of channels disappearing increased steadily and then epg wasnt picking up some listings. Finally this has progressed to a total lack of channels message changed to 29 no signal received and epg showing nothing and cant play recorded material. Tried all three methods (the update last night)and it did seem to update and turn of after 7 or 8 minutes or so.
I've checked wires that all look sound (havn't been able to get right up to dish yet but the wires from near look fairly secure still.
Box is a Thomson Sky HD box. We have another box in bedroom running from same dish with freeview only channels that seems to be working fine signal wise.
ANy assistance greatly received thanks

Sounds like the tuner in the sky box is on its way out a common fault with that make of boxes,
the only remedy is repair or replacement box,it mite be the dish slightly out of line, or the LNB intermittently faulty,or the F connections on the LNB,its difficult to tell unless you have the proper meter to check things out.

I while back I lost channel 5, but 4 weeks ago the electric went off and now i am getting no satalie signal is being received. It was working perfectly before the electric went off, is there any chance it's the old blue sky card that needs upgarding?

Tom,
Thanks for that, I must admit box was seming likely with other one working and getting all relevant freeview. Been up to the dish tonight and all wiring and connections look fine and dish appears secure. My time without millions of channels may have pursuaded me to ditch the subscription altogether!!

Hi satandpcguy,
I don't know which region of ITVHD that we were watching. It was on the tv guide we could also and still can get Ch4HD and 5HD, plus all the other normal channels. ITVHD just says "no satellite signal" now. I can get ITV regions on "other channels" but that doesn't help as you cannot record. Is it possible to send the signal from the Sky box to an external recording device.
