What can I do when my Sky Digibox says 'No Signal' or 'Technical fau
How to Reset a Sky Digibox when 'No Signal' appears.
Reset method 1 - Delete and Rescan
- Turn the power off at the mains socket. Either do this by pulling the plug from the socket, or using a power switch if there is one.
- Remove the viewing card from the machine. Using a dry cloth or kitchen roll, clean the gold connector on the reverse of the card. Do not use any cleaning products.
- Check cables and connectors are in good order.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds.
- With the card still out of the machine, plug the Digibox back into the mains.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.
Reset Method 2 - Reset the LNB
If the above method does not work, the LNB may have a fault.- Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
On Sky HD, press the [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]
Press the buttons in the sequence above exactly - do not atttempt to use [UP] or [DOWN]. Note that when you press the second 0 and 1 nothing happens on the screen until you press the final [SELECT]. This is a "hidden menu". - Then press [1] to go to the RF output menu.
- Press [DOWN] three times to highlight the line 22Khz Command and then press [RIGHT] to change the value to [OFF].
- Press [DOWN] and [SELECT] to select Save New Settings.
- Press [SKY].
- Again press [SERVICES], [4], [0], [1], [SELECT]; then [1] again for the LNB Menu. (SERVICES 0 0 1 SELECT for Sky HD).
- Now press the [RED] button (reset all settings), then [DOWN] until you can select Save New Settings again.
- Press [SKY].
Reset Method 3 - Upgrade the system software
If there are still problems:- Turn the Digibox off at the mains again and remove the viewing card.
- Whilst holding down the BACKUP key on the Digibox - NOT ON THE REMOTE - turn the mains power on.
- Keep hold of BACKUP until the screen displays a "UPGRADING SYSTEM SOFTWARE" message ââ¬â this will be white text on a black screen. On some boxes this can appear as a half screen.
- Wait 10 to 20 minutes for the software to download and install. The box will restart when the process is complete.
- Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
- Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
- Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
- Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

I was watching itv-turned the channel over and lost all signal. Both signal strengths and signal quality have nothing for input 1 and 2. I have completed the update and still nothing. I've unplugged etc and still nothing. This seems to be a constant problem every 6 months or so and ends up with a sky engineer costing me money and a new box. I have a sky hd amstrad box.
My tv works fine on its own inbuilt digital channels but sky not at all. I live at cv7-7aj Any suggestions?? Gareth

where have you got the box situated - it could be over heating if its in a cabinet or in a stack of equipment with poor air circulation try cooling it down
just a thought seen as its a regular occurrence witth no other obvious factors - the dish wont cause this problem

Hi Keith, many thanks for your reply. The skybox is under a cupboard that's about 9 inches off the ground. It has plenty of air round it and space so I don't think it's over heating-however I shall move it to see if that makes a difference as the sky chaps have no clue what's up!! I will have to wait for the engineer to swap the box first though as its still not working at all!!

HELP!!!
We live in Portugal and have a large satellite dish with an 8-way take off LNB. We use 5 of these offtakes, 4 to sky digiboxes and 1 to a silver crest satellite receiver. we have had this configuration for a number of years without problems. We are not Sky subscribers. Recently all 4 digiboxes started showing "no satellite signal" all at the same time. The little Silver Crest satellite receiver works perfectly well on all 4 of the digibox offtakes.I have tried everything you suggest including a different LNB . I have also tried a signal test which showed I had a good signal. Can you please help?

Roy Singleton: If you are referring to a Sky box, then when you say good what exactly are you meaning? as on a Sky box the signal / quality "has" to be sitting at the equivalent of about 60% min for satisfactory reception.

Thanks for your interest but this problem is really confusing.
As I said earlier, the satellite receiver works perfectly well on all channels and when a channel is selected a signal strength bar appears which varies between 60 and 70%. When I do a signal check on any skybox everything is zero. I took one of the skyboxes to a friend of mine today and it worked. The confusion is that this problem has developed overnight with all the skyboxes, they work elsewhere, and my satellite receiver records a good signal and works anywhere.

Roy Singleton: Just spotted your reply, and although its probably a bit late now to say this, but the problem you are experiencing is most likely being caused by your dish having been moved (blown or knocked against) slightly out of alignment, this usually always in the horizontal plane.

if the sky engineers did not suffer from vertigo we would not experience as many problems
