Angel Radio

Angel Radio is a public digital radio station radio. UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Click on the buttons in the right-hand corner of the map to choose from different frequencies (or multiplexes for DAB).

Hello,
A Question on DAB coverage.
I live in Fleet , NE Hants, just West of Farnborough.

It looks as if the map coverage may have changed?

Until a few days I could receive Angel Radio on all my devices.
In the last few days, some of my radio rx, (car and 1 portable), continue to operate as normal , and 2 of the other portables ( Roberts) do not show Angel when scanning the DAB stations list. ( tried from various locations within the house, up and downstairs.
Have you moved the multiplexer or its antenna , or has there been in a temporary change in power output please ?
Maybe due to heavy foliage at this time of year?
Best regards

Hi Jim. We haven't moved anything as this is an independent technical helpsite.
The history here is unclear. Angel Vintage as it is now known may have been on the original Trial Woking multiplex which was a single transmitter. It seems that changed a while ago to "Trial Aldershot" when there was a 2nd transmitter added at BFBS Aldershot.
I'm not sure whether Angel Vintage was ever on the "Trial Aldershot" multiplex, but it seems it should be on the "Surrey & North Sussex" multiplex Block 10C: 213.360 MHz which should cover your area, check you are tuned to that multiplex.

Ah, I think we have discovered what's happened - Angel used to transmit in Mono which would have been receivable on any DAB Radio. But they have recently changed transmission mode to DAB+ which means it will only be receivable on radios that have DAB+ ability, your two Roberts may be older than DAB+ but worth checking with the manufacturer as some radios have the ability to have a software/firmware update.
