Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Bilsdale (North Yorkshire, England) mast?
Bilsdale transmitter - Bilsdale transmitter: Possible effect on TV reception week commencing 04/11/2024 Pixelation or flickering on some or all channels
UK Free TV shows the coverage area for a radio transmitter as a coloured overlay (orange for FM, other colours for DAB) on the grey map. We have computed the coverage by combining the terrain with the official radiation pattern. A single click will select the transmitter to view the coverage for a single site, and a double click goes to a page showing full details. Click on the buttons in the right-hand corner of the map to choose from different frequencies (or multiplexes for DAB).

Brian Phillips: We need a full postcode to see the predicted reception at your location, Freeview's coverage checker doesn't work on place names. A postcode from a nearby shop/pub/garage/school etc is usually sufficient if you don't want to post your own.

You've posted on the DAB page, although there's no further helpful information on the TV page at present. Why did you retune in the first place?
Which way is your aerial pointing? Is it pointing almost due N or about 10 degrees N of due E ?

Has anyone any idea when the new Bilsdale transmitter will be in service.
I was walking on Urra Moor last week and the mast looks almost the height of the old one. Three red navigation lightgs can be seen from near Kildale.

Very poor FM reception. Never had Dab or Freeview.
Thanks in advance. Great site for transmitter information

Dave Moore: No completion date has been announced so far. Arqiva have a dedicated website (see link below) with updates and information on the help schemes for people who lost reception after the fire.

I can normally just get DAB radio signal through a roof top aerial here at YI21 2DQ. Has the Bilsdale radio transmission been fully restored or are present reception difficulties simply due to the present weather conditions?

Chris Dixon: The Project Restore website only seems to mention TV services being transferred to the new mast. It looks like there is work still to be carried out to restore DAB/FM radio, mobile phone antennas and other services.

When will Bilsdale mast be up and running for DAB radio?

Jonathan Brown:
Sadly Arqiva haven't provided any updates recently.
Whilst some of the FM and DAB antennae had been installed at the beginning of September, there were still some FM and DAB antennae to finish installing. The speculation a few weeks ago was that there was still some ongoing groundworks.
Hopefully we may have a bit of an insight on progress later this week. Recent weather conditions will not have helped progress of course.

New DAB radio, extremely poor reception for Radio 2 in Northallerton, is this likely to be cured when Bilsdale up and running, or is there some other reason
