can anyone help? Since last week when tvs needed retuning I keep losing the chanels in the D band. i.e. Yesterday Film 4. I have retuned several times, lo and behold the numbers and info are there but just a blank screen. How do I get over this?

I currently have Sky+ HD service, my 12 month contract finishes mid Feb, I'd like to stop my Sky +HD subscription and go to FsFs (free sat from sky, with purchase of a viewing card), I know I'll lose some HD channels (e.g. 4 HD and 5 HD) which I can live with, but need to know will I still be able to record on my Sky + HD box with the free to view card. I am also assuming that my Sky + HD box becomes my property after the 12 months subscription to Sky ends (I did this with Sky SD years ago). Is this correct, any advise greatfully appreciated, TIA folks

Ken: The moment you stop your subscription, the Sky+HD box will not play/pause or record any more.
Yes, the box is yours. No, it won't work as a recorder.
I suggest your grab yourself a Freesat+HD box instead.

Mendip Missing Multiplexes
Thanks for your help. Sounds like my problem is my loft mounted analogue aerial, despite it having a clear line of sight to the Mendip transmitter. Any suggestions as to the type and group(?) of aerial I should buy? Are some brands better than others?

Paul Olson: Moving the aerial from the loft to the roof will probably be all you have to do.
There isn't such thing as an "analogue" aerial, and all the digital services have always been "in group" (group C/D) so there has never been need to go for a wideband even.
If you buy a new one, get a group C/D for Mendip.
You might just want to wait, the power of the multiplex will increase considerably in the autumn.

Hi Brian,
Firstly just to comment on this excellent site, which is extremely helpful for a novice like me.
I am have recently purchased a new tv with freeview in built, which I attached my aerial socket, expecting it to pick up all the channels but nothing happened. It found two analogue channels and that was it. I haven't used my aerial as our main telly was connected to sky but this is based in a different location and was not intended to further grease Mr Murdoch's palms. In such circumstances, should I be looking to get the aerial replaced and what would be a reasonably cost? I ask since after a quick search of the internet I found a firm called Aerialforce who would look at it for £35 + VAT, but on further examination, they had a whole string of terrible reviews online therefore I am somewhat paranoid about getting ripped of in an area I know nothing about! Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks, David.
