Briantist- I often recall with fondness the time my friend wanted assistence with a TV purchase. After deciding to buy a set, the salesman proceeded on trying to sell us a 'Monster' scart.

Two mini LCD monitors were set up side by side both playing the same image from a DVD player. As you can imagine, one image was better than the other. On inspection, one had a scart connection, the other had component! When this was pointed out, the salesman did not seem to understand the difference between the leads and once explained, was lost for words.

Needless to say, the purchase was made elsewhere! Does make you wonder.

At least you got served Lutonfan, most "Comet" salespeople are too busy talking verbal hogwash amongst themselves to be bothered with us mere customers.

LutonFan: I suppose you have to remember that these people are salespeople on commission, not impartial technical consultants.

But, yes, the best thing to do with such advice is to leave the store.

Nedbod: That's true. They are almost as bad as in a mobile phone shop.

Yes, I have also encounted bad service in Curry's and Comet Stores,
as well as in a Best Buy Store in London
including no demonstrations of some products
I did manage to have a demonstration
on a Freesat Box and a Sky HD Box

Comet and Currys are the only opportunity for ESN students to obtain a job. Don't knock them, they are doing their best. Always remember that Alexander Graham Bell sold the first telephone when there was no-one to receive the call. That's what I call salesmanship.

SeaBee: Bell solved that problem by giving the first phone connections away for free. Simples.

ian: I guess they work on most people being easily bamboozled at the point-of-sale. It's called "upselling".
