Maureen: There is no particular reason to get a TV in the UK, a French TV will work perfectly well with an external box.
I would suggest you get a branded "Freesat" box from a UK store - it will cost you only £30 - Buy Bush BFSAT02SD Freesat SD Digital Box - Black at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for Freesat digital set top boxes.

I bought a HD ready tv and was told my freeview box already built in my tv would automatic show HD when freeview start broadcasting in HD so I bought the tv now freeview tell me I have to buy a new box for my 42" Samsung plasma tv is this right.

Hi could you tell me why I dont get all the free channels on freeview my friend who lives next door has the same tv and gets more freeview channels than my tv we get perfect reception and like I said we have the same tv.

Brian-as the original French TV and box was stolen,during a break in, my keyholders thought it would be cheaper for me to replace it from the UK and drive it over.
Many thanks for the info. re the box-I couldn't understand why it was going to cost 145 euros!!

I have two freeview boxes running off the same HQ digital aerial. While one box picks up the new 'Challenge' channel,the other box doesn't. I have rescanned several times including a few resets and scans but still nothing. Is this channel widely available now?

Rich: There's no such thing as a "digital aerial".
Is your aerial on the roof?
Have you done this My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice to the box with the missing channel?

Hi there
My sky digibox says NO satellite signal being received (29).I've tried resetting the box from step 1. To try step 2, pressed services, then [4] and it said to press [0] and then [1], but unfortunately my box has not got option [0] at all to proceed on to LNB setup!! . the make of the box is PACE. Guess problem is not with the box as it works fine at my friend's place upon checking. Any help at all please??
