Channel One to close, Challenge to come to Freeview
Sky is closing one pay and one free channel from the portfolio it bought from Virgin TV, because they match channels already provided by Sky.
Bravo and Channel One (which was Virgin 1 and before that FTN) will close.
This means that the Channel One slot on Freeview will be replaced with the quiz show channel Challenge.
Challenge is now in the Freeview guide on 46. If you can't see it yet, please follow these instructions on your set-top box or Freeview TV: My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong - ukfree.tv.

I'm a bit late to post, but I agree with Mark..7 pm always saw me on the sofa for a date with "Star Trek Voyager"..Now I cannot find that show anywhere else or any of the Star Trek progs fo that matter.. My fantasy affair with 7-of-9 will just have to be put on "hold !"
Was there any warning of the closure of Channel One ?..For me it was there one day and next day it had disappeared !..Piss-poor !!

Bloody Rupert Murdoch and his clan buying up the world.
I may have to buy an HD Freesat system though and see what's out there.

My hatred of Murdoch just increases. Channel One was one of the better channels and it is replaced with garbage. It is all to encourage you to buy Murdoch extremely expensive services!

Freeview is just a laugh now as the only shows and stuff they let us see is mainly sports, news, kiddy stuff and mega old repeats of any movie or shows. So much for its original plans of letting the masses have access to free vieewing... This is the only country in the world that I know of where people have to pay to have a tv or computer in their home let alone pay to view it too...

If Murdoch thinks closing my favourite channel is going to make me subscribe he has another think coming!
Much as I enjoyed Channel One/Virgin I'm not going to pay for it.

Rob James: Don't worry, the channel has closed, even if you subscribe to pay TV the channel no longer exists.

Agreed Channel 1 was my favorite channel as well. Sky bought it from virgin and had always planned to close it as they have living, bravo and sky 3(on freeview). They said theyve closed ch 1 because its too close in demographic to Sky 3 and living. Dont know about that never watch them but if there the same wheres all my &**&ing Star Trek, Chuck and Ghost whisperer episodes? Oh no wait I can watch them just pay £50 a month to Sky !!!!! No chance, will never ever pay for Sky
