You can get the following Freeview channels on with an ex-contract digital satellite receiver (once it is connected). Items marked with a star require either a Freesat from Sky (fSfS) card, or a expired Sky subscription card to view.

KI Moore: No, they will always work independently in the sense that Briantist has mentioned, but as you will likely have your Bush freesat box connected into your TV's HDMI socket when you take the said box out of standby to view something it should automatically switch your TV over to it from whatever it might be showing, likewise back to freeview or whatever again when the Bush is placed back in standby.

my sky box broke about 6 months ago so i cancelled my sky subscription. I have just been given a sky+ box which i have conected up. I only want the freeview channels but all i can get is bbc1 2 itv1 chaneel 4 and some of the news channels. all other channels i get the message. this is the wrong card for you set top box. i rang sky to get the card paired, but they will not pair it unless i re- activate my account, and pay a monthly fee. I thought i could get more channels free with sky. am i wrong

maggie: I would just take the card out of the machine, it only provides Sky3, Fiver and Five USA.

Sorry Brianist - 'FREEWAY' was a typo should have read;

Thanks for your reply Briantist. Would you know if it is possible to connect a freesat receiver to my iMac via USB in the same way the Eye TV DVB-T can? Or, is there a converter cable or something. Would like to make use of the sat dish on my house since roof top aerial not much good. Also, I'm using my iMac rather than a TV.

Cheers

Hadge: You can get DVB-S2 USB devices for the Mac, such as EyeTV Sat Features | DVB-S/S2 Mac TV Tuner with CI .

I have an old sky+ box that I'm no longer using and in the kitchen there is an old aerial connection point. Can I stick in an rf cable between wall socket and sky box then use an av from sky box to tv to get freeview channels? It's an old tv with no built in freeview. Sorry of this has already been asked. Not that technical when it comes to this stuu

Matt: No, a Sky box isn't a Freeview receiver. If you want to watch Freeview, you need a Freeview box.

I am leaving Sky and I have a Humax freeview pvr (9300T) from an old flat which I wanted to connect to my satelite dish. The Humax box doesn't have a satelite type input on the back. I bought a little adaptor at the weekend which converts the satelite cable to a co-ax. I plugged it all and got no signal, didn't seem to register at all?

Should this work? Any help very gratefully received!

Alex: You can't use Freeview equipment with a dish, you need a Freesat box.
